AVB

You see, we're not so different, we both shoot down achievements of former Spurs managers, no harm no foul.

I thought we were talking about what they had done not shooting down facts ( which is what you said I would do), moving the goalpost a bit are you not. Anyway I am out of here there is no point

ah ok, I'm still arguing your earlier point about AVB and sherwood being effectively the same

we really should call a truce on this, I'm never going to accept your suggestion that AVB is flawed, and I doubt you'll ever realise you are utterly wrong about him, is it worth us arguing on and on and on

As Spurs managers, nothing more.

I don't see Sherwood amounting to much as a manager, perhaps managing a top half PL club but that's about it.

My point is that you can't be at the relative 'top of the pile' in any league to actually win a title. Sure, money helps but as we've seen money can only go so far sometimes.
Management of those resources you can buy is a skill in itself. It's why i can only give a limited appraisal to the likes of Wenger and Ancelotti.
So whilst many will belittle AVB's trophy haul to date (like you often seem to) there will be many who would walk in his shoes and take the jobs he has and not achieve what he has to date (like Sherwood imo)

all I hear about is the fact that we are where we should be (or there abouts) because we are 6th richest team in the prem, so if that's the case then it is all about money and avb winning the league in rusia is nothing more than par..... But...... He done done it apparently in such a mind boggling turgid way that even though he won the league he was slated by a club legend..... And then there is his performance in the champs league, how did he get on there? Nah man the guy's not what you fans of his make out. He will make teams hard to beat, and turgid to watch, and if he has the biggest budget he will win brick, but so would most competent managers.

As for comparison with Sherwood, (and I was disappointed with their performance in the final) we have them both managing the same team for half a season, Sherwood got better results, had the team scoring more (much more) introduced Kane and Bentaleb who now are key to our future.... Avb.... Didn't. Anybody who assessed that season fairly will see who performed better, for both the long and the short term Of spurs.

Avb (spell check changes this to avg..... Which is so apt) biiitches and moans but he fuxed it up with Chelsea and spurs, blames others for his own failings yet Harry is given the tag of passing the buck.

Has no one brought this up yet? Fine, then I'll just leave this here....

I was just thinking of posting this ! Anyway, well done to AVB for winning the league and Cup trophies with Zenit. Won't be surprised if a big club try to appoint him as their manager soon.

The biggest club I can see him managing at is somewhere like Inter Milan. Can't ever see a bigger club than that going for him.

I think Italian football would suit his playing style.

agreed

and Internazionale are a pretty big club, not Manchester, Munich or Madrid level for sure but certainly in the next tier, if he does go there it will be the biggest club he's managed by quite some distance

personally i'd rather see him at Milan

can we get a list of leagues it's acceptable to win trophies in - for future reference?

Portugal and Russia obviously off the list for being two bob (nothing to do with the fact AVB has actually done well in both these countries, oh no not at all), Holland and the MLS, as mentioned above? Scotland obviously goes without saying. Germany has to be crossed off i guess if we're talking one team leagues, as does France i suppose - Real and Barca make Spain a little one sided what with having so much more money than the others so im not sure it'd be fair to include them. Italy? bit corrupt isn't it - wouldn't want to have that hanging over anything you win there...

Premiership or nothing else it looks like then eh lads? best league in da wurld!!!!

The Russian league certainly isn't a top league and I'm not sure how anyone can seriously argue with a straight face that it is.

As for Portugal, It's not a one team league, but to be fair Porto are the biggest club with the most resources.

Name a top manager that is managing in the Russian league at the moment? Of the top 10 managers in world football, how many would you say are managing in that league? Besides AVB of course who is clearly in the top 5 :p I'll be impressed if you can name one manager in total besides AVB.

If he proves himself in any of the top 4 leagues then I will change my opinion of him, but as I said before, I can't see any top club in any of the top leagues going for him.

The man is rebuilding his career and in effect learning his craft too when you consider his relatively young age. If the only thing he learns from his time is Russia is pragmatism then it will have been time well spent. In think Inter would be a good next step for him. They've had rough patch themselves and the slower paced possession focussed style of Italian football seems tailor made for AVB's preferred style of play. He could do well there.

I would have guessed at Benfica being the bigger club.

Alenichev is managing someone I think, what a player he was eh. (Not a top manager yet but at least I could name one)

Top league's right now being Spain and Germany, then England, are you having France (where he has been linked with the biggest job) or Italy for fourth?

Premier League Billy not Premiership!

Great to see AVB doing it in Russia. Maybe one day he'll come back to England and succeed but I doubt it very much.

It does not matter where he goes, they are those who have made their mind up about him being crap and say it all the time, no way will they admit they may have been wrong about him.
