AVB

Well, which of our outfield players who 'were rendered ineffective' by the 'play it to Bale' tactics have been MORE effective since AVB has gone?

Do you really need to ask? A certain striker who will remain nameless for one. The second half of the season was literally have 65% possession, create very little chances of any substance, then give the ball to Bale after 88 minutes and ask him to get us out of trouble.

This thread is literally the forum version of Groundhog Day - i don't know wether to laugh or smash my ipad on the floor :D

What would happen if he left?

He's been linked to numerous clubs over the summer months and declined to move but...what happens should he eventually be persuaded that the grass is greener elsewhere?

What would happen with Baldini? Would Bale be more likely to leave if his new BFF left? Who would come in to replace AVB?

It's a completely different team now thanks to AVB and his transfer committee splashing 100million pounds.

people talk about trouble and rescuing us, how many of these games were we behind in?

yeah he scored some goals, but we were as tight as a ducks arse at the back in the second half of that season, the defence deserves a lot of the plaudits as well

Oh anyone else to name but the streaky striker that turned it on when he wants (and has mostly been FAR less reliable overall than Bale in skill level and finishing anyhow)?

I'm sure Robspur posted a stat about how many points his goals won us. Points that were converted from 1 to 3.

Granted he is the definition of the word enigmatic, but he really was utterly useless that season. Added to the fact that we barely created any chances for him, 1 per game at the most.

Indeed, but as i asked RobSpurs can you name another player that should have 'played better than they did'?

I genuinely do think he is going to be an incredibly successful manager. It's football's dirty secret at the moment but the game is evolving into one of control and opportunity limitation, he has excelled at that at times. People will tinkle and moan about it, we want flair this and gung-ho that, but that isn't where the game is going.
Last post in this thread for now, but I genuinely don't think he will be, out side of these weaker leagues, because he hasn't proved to me that he is able to take mediocre players and have them perform beyond the limits of their natural talent, in a way that Ferguson, Wenger and mourinho can. Mopo is a special coach too in that respect.

Totally with Jurgen here. I'd love to dig up some old OMTs from his time here. The most boring football I've witnessed in 23 years following THFC and in a job so long thanks to Bale otherwise he'd have gone sooner. Was booted out by Levy in part due his negativity as I posted at the time.

Short memories at times on here I feel.

i've never read a single OMT on here which suggests we've either played well or won the game, if this place had been around in 60 we'd all have been going absolutely mental when that Clive Colbridge goal went in and suggesting maybe Bill Nic wasn't the guy to take us any further

Sig flattered to deceive IMO.

Lennon didn't quite reach the heights he did under the previous regimes.

Dempsey did OK, not poor but not great either.

Bale certainly had to carry the team in the second half of the season.
