AVB

Another reason added to the list to thoroughly dislike AVB. I had Zenith, Fiorentina and Napoli to qualify.

Disappointed that AVB couldn't get Zenit progress to the EL semi finals. Afterall, he won the EL with Porto in 2011. But then again, always felt AVB is more suited to league games than Cup competitions. Was not fully convinced of AVB in Cup matches when he was at Spurs. In fact, Ramos is the only Spurs manager to have done anything of note in Cup competitions at Spurs since GG.

Anyway, AVB's Zenit are doing much better in the Russian League. Zenit are leading the league table by 8 points with 6 matches to go.

currently only 5 clear, game in hand against arsenal tomorrow afternoon where a win will put them 8 up with 5 to play

Zenit are now 8 points clear at the top of the Russian league, with only 3 matches remaining. They only need 1 more point to win the Russian league due to their superior goal difference. In fact, if their closest rival Krosnodar drop any more points, Zenit will win the league without doing anything ! Zenit are now on excellent form, being unbeaten in 12 matches. It is a pity, they don't have a good record in the Cups. It is clear, AVB is more suited for the league !

Anyway, well done to AVB for being on course to win a league title. Frankly, Levy should swallow his pride and re-appoint AVB as the Spurs manager ! AVB made us hard to beat unlike now ! For those who criticize AVB, you should only look at his record at Spurs : joint-record league wins, record league points, one of the most goals scored, one of the least goals conceded, beating ManU away for the first time in 20 over years, improving our away record and more importantly, he earned us the respect we deserved !

The most boring brand of football imaginable.

Hard to beat? Did you miss the 6-0, 5-0 and 3-0 thumpings against City, Liverpool and West Ham? By the end of his rein, we were so porous it was unreal.

Sherwood actually has the best win percentage. Shall we get him back?

The worst manager we had since Santini. His complete wasting of £100 million has probably put us back about 3 years. Luckily Sherwood picked up some of the pieces and got us ahead of Man Utd and into the Europa League, but Pochettino is now struggling to paper over he cracks that AVB created.

We really do not know how to let it go on this forum.

We should never have let go of Arry, he had us playing the football we all wanted to see and playing the formation everyone wants now.

I liked all of our recent managers but in every instance I think the decision to move them on was timed correctly. For AVB he had lost the dressing room, tinkled off a lot of people at the club and had to go when he did. Similarly I think there is a good manger inside Sherwood but he talked himself out of a job and had to go. Harry did great for us (probably should have done better) but the time to move on from him was also correct for reasons we all know about.

Par for us is 6th place and so by that definition all these managers did a good job for us and IMO none of them deserve the often childish vitriol aimed at them. They weren't perfect managers by a long shot, but all had good points and all had us one step or sometimes two steps higher up the ladder than our finances would dictate.

I didn't want Poch and had hoped for De Boer. Some of the stuff I've seen on the pitch this season has been dreadful and some of his decisions have me scratching my head, but I like him as a person and it goes without saying I hope he succeeds. I think Levy will give him to Xmas to show some improvement.

Edit: If Klopp was available do you think we should get rid of Poch?

Even though i love Klopp's passion and the way he gets his sides playing, i would keep Poch for atleast 1 more season. Our problem is we do not give anyone enough time, we give youth players a long time to develop so why not young managers?
