Moses is a far better player than Townsend. I would sell Townsend in an heart beat. His footballing brain has refused to mature. There was a period of time when Moses was Stoke's best player and was a solid pick in the Fantasy leagues. Liverpool killed his confidence and I blame Rodgers for that.

The only time Victor played poorly under Keshi was his time in Liverpool. His confidence was destroyed during that season. However to say he has had numerous non-descript performances is a serious over statement. In ANC 2013, he was instrumental in Nigeria getting to the knock out stages. He was also solid when Naija beat Mali in the semis. The trio of Moses, Emenike and Ideye were a solid front three which were well blended. To judge his performances post 2013, you must look at the Nigerian lineup and the madness that went through the just fired Keshi's head. How some one could convert one of Nigeria's best sides to the mess that followed is seriously bewildering.

I agree that he is better on the left as a true tormenting winger. All that playing him on the wrong side achieves is the temptation to cut in an d whack it (and boy does he do enough of that).

But even so the problem townsend has got is he never develops, learns or even has the realisation himself that making better on field decisions will make him 5 times the player. He is english, an international and young....anything in the 12-15M region its bye bye

You comments almost read as if you are giving the players credit for winning the ANC and subsequently blaming the coach for the downturn post 2013, a slight over simplification methinks. But we digress.

Personally I am not convinced about Moses, but as he would be the first Naija international to play for Spurs if we did not sign him, I would definitely be routing for him. Personally, I am been generally impressed with his end product since he left Wigan, but it would be nice to be proved wrong if we did sign him.

I give Keshi both the credit and blame for the last three years. The shambles of Nigeria not qualifying from a group of 4 (comprising of South Africa, Sudan and Congo DR) with two qualification spots is DISGUSTING!! Post the ANC 2013 - He lost all credibility in my eyes. Funny callups became his middle name.

I am not saying Moses is the answer ( see my first post) but he is a better option then Townsend who really is not improving.

That is my point, nearly 90 games and he has the same faults which seems to me he is either unable or unwilling to do anything about it. Its time to stop talking about his potential and move on he reminds me of the hype that surrounded the plodder who next season is likely to be playing in a lower division.

Well at least he has gone now. :D

I guess we just have to wait to see if Moses arrives and Townsend departs.

Personally, I would give Townsend a run of games on the left flank where in my opinon he has looked good in his rare appearances there. I like Poch but his stubbornness does my head in sometimes. Like how before Lennon lost his place he was playing most of the time time on the left wing so he could cut in. One thing Lennon is not is a left winger, yet because Poch is inflexible when it comes to inverted wingers so we end up having a very ineffective Lennon on the left, where he has arguably played the worst football he has ever played for this club.
 
we do see our wide men switch sides during games quite regularly tbf, but ultimately if the player doesn't fit the way the manager wants us to play then that's just the tough luck on that player, as harsh as that is.

by the same token should we switch to two upfront to try and get the best out of Soladado?

But it i snot just Townsend. Lennon looked pants on the left, and even though Ericksen staerted from the left once the game starts he always moves into the centre, Lamela is yet to prove himself on our right. Lets hope if we go for Moses he delivers whichever flank

that's probably why we're looking to sell Townsend and Lennon - they don't suit our style of play (and neither are really good enough anymore) Eriksen plays in the center mostly and whenever he plays on the left usually does a good job, some say he is even at his best when out there, so not sure what the issue with him is? Lamela, is a work in progress, a year younger than Townsend off the back of his first full season in the league - so should at least be shown the same patience you're affording AT...
 
I'd agree that, for Spurs' sake and for Townsend's, he'd be best off at a new club which will play him as the traditional left winger that he has always been and at which he would do a very decent job, if given consistent playing time.

But I would be massively disappointed if we replaced him with Moses. Neither player is what we need but at least Townsend has the virtue of being one of us - a genuine Spurs fan who loves the club; one of our own. He's also a very likeable guy - all too rare in the modern game. Of course, these are not good reasons, in isolation, for keeping him (let alone playing him) but, if we are to get rid, then at least let's only do so if we're going to replace him with a player who is genuinely worth buying and who would represent a proper upgrade.

Alternatively, give players of far greater promise - like Alex Pritchard, Josh Onomah and Nathan Oduwa the opportunity to show us what they can do rather than clogging up our squad with bought in mediocrity.
