Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

How do you know he was offered to move?

In fact, how do you know any of this happened at all?

I'll give you a really useful life tip - don't ever, ever, ever believe anything written in the Grauniad. It's written by champagne socialists (all the ones I've ever met support Arsenal) and has a content quality no better than the Sun - it just has a better vocabulary.

Why did AVB get involved AT ALL? You have to question his intelligence to engage with such nonsense at this time, when as Steff said, he is under the micro micro-scope. Stupid thing to have done, just like criticising the fans at WHL or over ruling the medical team on Lloris.

PS I agree with you on the Grauniad - even though one of my best friends is a journo there - and FYI he is a Spurs fan!

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Being in a poor run of form is frustrating

The system is frustrating, the run calls the pass, because of the way we compress the play it leaves little space for the run and the only two players that have the ability to try and play the pass are Holtby and Lamela, the rest are so stereotyped because of the system, AVB has a massive ego which I think will end him, Freund was getting too popular so he stuck him on the end of the bench, if he doesn't become more flexible he will be going.

There's a lot of assumptions here. How do you know that Freund was moved because he was popular? How do you know that he isn't flexible, I can think of numerous instances where he has changed his mind either about a player or tactics? How do we know that it is the formation that is the problem as opposed to poor form? Do other clubs playing similar formations have similar problems?

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

He plays 4-2-3-1 every game, inverted wingers, he could play the girl guides and he would play 4-2-3-1, Stefan has gone from jumping up and down at his right hand side to the end of the bench that is not assumption it's visual, ffs stop nit picking, oh and by the way I do have an inside track, or do you know everything, if so no probs I will stop posting, actually **** it I will stop posting anyway.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

The Freund thing is quite interesting actually. Last season he was literally AVB's right hand man, involved, it seemed, in everything. This season he's visibly less involved and like you say, on the end of the bench. It's a shame if he has been sidelined as it seems. What itk do you have mate?

Again. I'd question why you think that happened. Because a particularly unreliable part of a particularly unreliable industry known to have an agenda against our manager claims so? I'll wait for something a little more certain than that before I judge the situation.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Weren't you claiming that our results had been good this season?

Yes I was - better than last season certainly. That doesn't mean we lost to any of those teams last season though. We did lose to a lot of other teams - some better, some worse - it happens.

If you were conspiratorial, it would be as follows…

People know he has a tendency to be very very nervy when under pressure, people know he has a tendency to be edgy when under pressure, people make sure that he is put under pressure and people make sure that no-one is there to act as a buffer.

Most managers have had a tete a tete with some mouthy fan, but they also (vitally) have someone close by to calm them down in the heat of the moment)…to be honest, this seems like something which could easily have been either unreported, avoided or seen AVB ushered into some common sense at the touchline by one of his own staff…none of that happened…

At the end of the day, he is responsible and should've been smarter. But I do think there are forces at work to undermine him, and I hope he discovers the necessary comprehension of the situation/intelligence, to make it through, otherwise it will be costly for him...

It definitely happened it was taken from the norwegian media http://www.nordlys.no/sporten/til/article7013276.ece

Whether the English media would have picked up on it is another story.

Interesting talking about the English media, here's the Mirror's Martin Lipton coming out defending AVB and talking about the media and Redknapp.

Interesting that - I thought Lipton was one of Redknapp's lot.

And in the current climate on this forum AVB's willingness to change his mind - Dawson/Adebayor - is seen as a sign of his weakness. The only way that beardy ginger chap can win is if the team starts winning by playing the Spurs way.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

That secondcaptain link is hilarious "surely ten stikers on the field would increase your chance to score by ten" lol

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

We're better off than last year. Project our current results forward and we'd have comfortably finished 4th.

That's like when Brendan Rodgers said early in the season "we've already made up the 10 points we needed for the CL from last season". As Dean Austin rightly points out, you cannot assume you will get the same results as last season.

I don't think that anyone had suggested that we will

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Redknapp was whoring himself out to the England job and people where chanting and begging for him to stay, it's disgusting to see the non support that he gets from the majority of us when he's actually trying to improve us. AVB is taking some time to implement his tactics had a few bad losses but remains 100% committed to us. No wonder other teams **** us off as fans when we're this fickle with our manager and can't get behind him.

Surely even someone who hates Arry as much as you must be able to see the results and performances he was getting AT THAT TIME were far better than what AVB is producing? I keep saying this, it's a results business, couldn't really give a toss about the manager's personality. Arry was a media *****, AVB gives off an air of aloofness, who cares?

As for the last line? :ross:
