Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

Durham was loving this news tonight on Drivetime. Sometimes you do start to think we are the only team in the Premiership, although he did go nearly 48 hours without a Spurs-related story

He was spouting so much brick I had to switch off

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

Ginger headed fudgetaco

He really does seem to harbour an an almost obsessive desire to prove to the world that AVB is a useless chancer.......to the point where he often doesn't seem to care about making himself look a bit of tit with some of the absurd logic he uses to make his point.

I love 'im. He entertains me and makes me laugh.

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

The problem is he's said he only wants a short career in management and wants to use management to be able to travel the world and live in South America. I don't see us getting that many years out of him. :(

he could do that now. Was given 12m compensation from Chelsea.

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

Surely, Napoli is not the kind of club which will attract an ambitious and successfull manager like AVB. Napoli's only claim of fame in history is that Maradona once played for them. Other than that, they have a shyte history before and after Maradona's time there. If you look at their history, they have never had any famous managers. Just because they finished 2nd in the Italian league this season, don't think they will suddenly lure big name managers. Also, the Italian league no more have the lure of big money it used to have.

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

i'm not really sure what we would be missing if he left. save for organisation on the pitch

we stil have bale, for the time being at least. we could always get a good manager and do well if we have the players....which we tend to have almost every season now.

not saying he is bad, am just saying i wouldnt really be worried that we couldnt replace him. actually his organisation and his guidance in on field discipline...(when it works) are pretty good i must say....but again...quite a few talented coaches out there

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

AVB confirms interest in becoming next Napoli manager.

Source?
Sounds like a red herring to me mate...if nothing else, his agent will simply get a pay bump. I'd expect to see Di Matteo or Benitez announced in the next week or so down there...

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

My only worry is that as soon as he thinks his reputation is sufficiently 'restored', he will leave us. And I can see why, because we never would have gotten him had it not gone so wrong at Chelsea, so we are doing each other a favour.

His language such as 'Put Tottenham back on track with titles' and not something like 'Build something for the long term' suggests to me he only views this job as something to do for a couple of years. He can lend his expertise to us and get us where we need to be, maybe maintain our competitiveness while the new stadium is being built, but once his reputation is restored fully and he looks like a legitimate choice to manage a top, top club then I fear he will go. I really hope I'm wrong though.

If he takes us to where we need to be he will already be managing a top, top club.

Re: AVB -> Napoli!

Levy : A horses head ? We'll give you £15m. We can pay £2.50 just now and the rest in weekly installments of £1.50

Napoli : Were not offering the horses head for sale

Levy : You drive a hard bargain, ok, £8m. We can pay £3.65 up front with the rest in weekly instalments of 75p

Napoli : You're fudging crazy

Levy : See you 31st Aug :)

Brilliant!
