Aaron Lennon

Lennon could well have a touch of the Rooney factor....ie quick,powerful,explosive......the years pass and then not very quick,powerful,explosive......equals not very useful any more.

managers fault for not evolving his game - he could have been easily converted to an inverted winger to take advantage of his great first touch. remember his goal goal vs chelsea

Got round to looking at my members magazine today and there's a team photo on the backpage. Lennon is an inset.
(And he'll probably be a bit gutted that the club will Photoshop in the frickin East Stand but not the smallest player in the squad :D )

Ahead of Lamela?

Yes.

It may seem strange, but I write clearly enough for most to understand.

If you believe Lamela to be a wide right player, rather than an inside forward or right-channel midfielder, then I would have to disagree.

If anyone believes that Townsend is best used as right wing and is better there than Lennon, then I woud have to disagree.

That said, Lamela would be in my starting line-up more centrally, with Eriksen on the left.

Lennon does not make mistakes which lead us to concede so many goals and dropped points.
Lennon easily more useful than Lamela. Ask Dier or Naughton.

Our right winger has no end product, has lost his pace and can't even take a man on anymore. Rested on his laurels for too long, not a dedicated pro away from pitch and needs to go now. Offers good defensive cover, but that should be an after thought of one of our forwards. Has gone horribly backwards

His defensive covering skills is just about the only thing he does well these. He's a non factor at the other end.

For the sake of his career he should have accepted the transfer in the summer window. Credit to him for wanting to fight for a place I suppose but I am glad he is not a starter anymore was a passenger 9 out of 10 games he played.

Lamela also has as many assists this season as Lennon had all of last season (in 26 starts).

yeah, you're right, it's snark, but let's compare the PPA (price per assist), Lennon was what, £1.75m?

he did also setup that crouch goal, in the European cup, in Milan, the "biggest" spurs goal since Gazza in 91

All true; but when was the last Lenon assist? Am I right in that it was for Defoe's last goal vs Palace in January?

Man, if there were two players in the forward areas that had an understanding, it was Defoe and Lennon :(

Can I just say that Lennon has himself to blame and this isn't About managers. Lennon has an awful attitude and is a massive massive drinker. Yes he may train hard but he is the typical football who has made it at 21 - he stopped improving and his lifestyle has not helped him to stay fit. His pace has gone, he hides from ball and now gets away wht working hard. He is also a very arrogant unlikeable chap

How do you know this?

He isn't a lightweight at all - him and hudd were known for hammering it.

I played football quite a while back and have randomly some mutual acquaintances through this. Met him a few times as well. Before you say I am not one of these people posing about being an 'in the know' forum guy. Have heard some cracking stories though!! For example turning up last year at a club charity function utterly smashed (Wednesday before a Saturday I game I believe) and being sent home by one of our coaching staff before anyone realised. He is a macaron.

Used to rate him as someone with serious potential but another young English player who lived the life

Interesting.

Q1: What level of football did you play?

Q2: Now that Hudd have gone does he have any other "drinking partners"?

Q3: I've always worried that many young English players are in or are doomed to fall into the drinking lifestyle; I guess that reputation might be why many of the top clubs don't invest too heavily in too many English players. Anyway, from what you know do many/any of the English home-grown in our squad have similar drinking issues?
