At a certain point, we are where we are.
De Zerbi divides opinion in several ways.
His actions will always have to speak louder than his words.
I think the truth regarding Greenwood (and this is MY opinion only) is that he simply didn't really think too much about what he had done because DeZerbi is so football-obsessed that's all he sees. So when asked about wanting him and playing him at Marseille, I don't think he was necessarily 'defending' Greenwood at all, I genuinely don't think he thought too much about it. He is an obsessed and somewhat relentless egotistical knobbhead from what I have seen. As someone said here recently, many top managers are.
He is 46 years old. He was 42/43 at the time of Greenwood. Maybe he is still learning and developing as a human being (I hope so, we all should be). His use of language is not always great for sure. But again, we are where we are. He has somewhat addressed the issue, I agree with those who say it will come up again until the club actually help him either articulate his truth or dress his truth in universally-palatable clothes, and here he is. Our manager.
I thought
@tommysvr 's idea was great. For those of us who are uncomfortable with his position, make that donation if it makes us feel better.
And I have to be honest, I will move on with regards to him being here and managing the club because he is here, he is manager, and it is what it is.
I will even take his expressed sentiments as an earnest attempt to show that he earnestly does regret the whole Greenwood fiasco.
I hope he has developed as a leader too, because the bloke I have known/seen is an arsssehole who blows things up.
We can't have that. Again, don't mistake being tough with being an arsssssehole.
So here's hoping it works out. For the club and us.
