Roberto De Zerbi *OFFICIAL*

I was just typing the same thing about the “if” and the fact that it ought to have been scripted by our PR team that he did not say that.

“I am sorry for the distress and offence my comments caused”. Job done. (Kind of).

I hope our PR team are more on the ball for his first press conference as it’s going to come up again.

I know there was discussion about the language barrier earlier in the thread when the initial comments were made, and I can see both sides on that debate.

On this though, I feel like he needs a little bit of slack. One word is making all the difference here and I understand why, but because it’s one word I’m not going to hold it against someone not speaking in their first language.

He said he didn’t mean to take a stance. That’s his position now. I think that’s fair enough.

“I’m sorry if this offended anyone’s feelings. . .”

“I have a daughter . . .”

Two of the worst things you can do in these circumstances, the non-apology apology with a conditional “if”, and demanding brownie points for having a female relative.

Unbelievable that the club can’t afford and enforce better PR advice. All he had to do was say sorry as if he meant it.
He's not demanding brownie points, he's saying he has a daughter so understands the situation - literally the same thing many a person has said.

Some people really aren't happy unless they have something to whinge about. Good reason for supporting Spurs I guess.....

My comments weren’t against him at all, rather against our PR team.

Jesus wept. What is he supposed to say? Absolutely pathetic.

He's said sorry! But it isn't good enough for some people. It has to be their version of sorry. And they get wound up by his very words in the aplogy "how dare you mention you have a daughter, literally the worst thing he could have said". It is utterly pathetic. Woeful.

He didn’t, in fact, say sorry.

He said “I’m sorry if this offended anyone’s feelings”. That’s very different.

And, like Glenda, I’m mainly appalled at how unprofessional this is from a PR perspective. Any organisation of the club’s size should be able to get these basics right.

Still don't think he even needs to apologise, he said what he said and never one said he supported what Greenwood done. I think people are picking holes in this for the sake of it.

He might as well resign now, this issue will never go away as we have plenty of "fans" who will raise it at every opportunity. Is there anyone on here who doesn't know where the people offend by his remarks and signing of Greenwood stand? They've made their point time to move on, Will they accept that he's here now and we should all hope he can keep us up.
It seems a pity people so full on compassion and empathy cannot accept others make mistakes and cannot be forgiving if the culprit admits to errors and learns from their mistakes.

Its got to the point where it has gotten out of hand, as if he committed the crime. People will beat him with this stick at every given opportunity due to not wanting him here in the first place. If Poch had signed Greenwood and then joined us i suspect the number of people offended would drop.

Arteta hasn't taken any flack for playing a known rapist for 3 years but because it's Spurs it's open season on RDZ it seems

Maybe we should have made that rooster who is head of the Green's in as manager instead, would have made loads happy on here no doubt

No one complains of anything in football if the team are doing well. If we stay up, play good football and finish in the top 4 next season, all of this will be forgotten by 95% of the fan base.
