Transfer thread

IF we sign him, it will be proof positive that we are absolutely looking to sit tight and strong to spring on the break and catch teams out.
I think that will be an important part of our plan regardless, but obviously shouldn't be our only plan.

I actually think he'd help us to some extent playing differently too. He's not the deep playmaker I still wish we'd find hidden under some stone. But he's a player I think can turn poor or average possession under pressure into better possession with skill and technique.

We're forced to sit deep and counter attack in part because too many of our players are unhappy receiving the ball under pressure and facing the wrong way. Leading to more or less useless passes sideways and backwards.

Savinho is to me good enough on the ball that he'll be able to keep and progress the ball in those situations with a good frequency. Make himself available to receive the ball in those situations too instead of relying on the right service after others have progressed the ball.

Or he could be a Modric or Alli. Our best signings are rarely our established ones, just the ones who have been well scouted.
Feel like there was a lot of noise around Modric and he wasn't cheap for the time. I remember thinking he was a big signing and being very excited. They showed him in the seats before he started playing (dunno if they do that for everyone signing, feel like they don't).

Was the difference perhaps that the deal was signed early summer? Wasn't it all done and dusted before pre-season started?

I think it's a different pattern when you're into August and expecting some certainty on a deal. There is none.

Would people be happy with a transfer window consisting of bringing in Eze, Savinho and Kudus aswell as obviously the loans we have made permanent and the other additions?

Yeah, I would as long as we see some exits to balance the squad.

Interestingly, Eze's £68m release clause expires on Friday. Not sure whether that is relevant or not.

Because we don't go for quality established players. If they are established they typically of the 2nd tier kind. We work better with the under scouted and under the radar players because we have occasionally been willing to take those gambles.

Hamburg have just been promoted to the Bundesliga top flight after 7 years of trying to get back in apparently.

I'm guessing Luka will have a lot of defending to do at that club if can get in the first team.
