what has happened to the transfer section?

BBC says 32m for Mario Götze! and Lewandowski will surely follow, I'm sure the Chairman said he wanted him sorted early in the window.

So much for Dortmund not needing to sell now they are a massive club, although we'll have to see what they do with the money they get.

There's a minimum release clause in Gotze's contract

You're right - why would we want a top class striker - our forward are doing just fine

:)

I don't think Gomez would be worth the price/wages considering his limited technical ability. His first touch is worse than Pav's, he doesn't offer anything other than goals.
We've already got Defoe as that type of striker, I think we should target a striker with much better all-round play than Gomez.
Also, he's a major bottler.

Anything other than goals?

100 goals in 3 years?

Defoe managed that in more than a decade.

I'd take that any day ahead of some 'worker' who apparently 'opens up space for others.

He's a superb finisher and a very good target man - much, much better than Defoe 'turn and blast' approach - something we've missed for years

Defoe has never played in one of the top 3 teams in Europe, who knows how many goals he would have scored for Bayern.
He's a suberb finisher, yes (as long as it's not a big game), very good target man, absolutely not in my opinion.

I actually don't think neither Ade nor Defoe are good enough to be first choice for us, but I want someone who can bring others (Bale) into the game.

Good pt.

I always don't buy the theory "you need goals , you need a striker" . Of course a forward is still the one who mainly make goals in a team. But apart of that there are also other ways to score.

A target men with good link up play ability could provide more attack option and goal scoring midfielders in our team like Bale and also Sig , Dempsey would benefit of him as well.

I think Mandzukic is a good example .

According to @RMCsport PSG have agreed a deal with Napoli to sign Edinson Cavani on a 4-year contract this summer

To be fair this isn't bad news. If they wanted the players it's better we know they are off the market and not to bother than attempt to get any of them.

More big clubs out of the striker market the better.

Moving on: Lisandro Lopez is likely to quit Lyon in the summer (Picture: Getty)
Lisandro Lopez has opened the door to a move to Tottenham in the summer after revealing that he is ready to quit Lyon.

The 30-year-old striker has reportedly become disillusioned following several rows with manager Remi Garde in recent weeks, and now wants to leave.

As Metro.co.uk revealed in February, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is a long-term admirer of Lopez – who has managed 11 goals in 29 matches this term – and a summer deal is on the cards.

And it appears Spurs will have a clean run to sign the striker, with the player admitting he is very likely to quit Lyon at the end of the season.

‘I don’t think it is possible for me to continue here,’ said Lopez.

‘Before the end of the season I’m going to meet with the president and the coach and we’ll see.’

Spurs are set to restructure their front line in the summer, with at least two new strikers on the cards, while Emmanuel Adebayor could be moved on.

Lyon are thought to want up to £5million for Lopez, whose contract expires at the end of next season.

Emirates Marketing Project are closing in on in-demand Napoli frontman Edinson Cavani after agreeing in principle terms with the player over a summer move.

However, David Beckham's Paris St Germain remain in the hunt after striking up a similar deal despite neither agreeing a fee with the Uruguayan's club.

To make matters worse for City, the player himself has set his sights on a dream move to Real Madrid.

With fears mounting that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be lured back to Juventus, as revealed in Sportsmail, PSG hope to hijack City’s pursuit of one of Europe’s most accomplished finishers.

Roberto Mancini is desperate to hit the ground running this summer after seeing his title chances damaged considerably last year when Robin van Persie chose Manchester United.

City, then, have agreed in principle to offer £256k per week, though there remains the barrier of his release clause, initially thought to be £53million. Recently, though, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis insisted it would take an incredible £60million to trigger it.

Asked to clarify the exact amount needed to prise the 26-year-old away, the president said: ‘We included a very high buy-out clause in his contract, because we want him to stay.

'The clause does exist, though, and if some nutter is willing to pay €70m for him we are ready to listen.'

Cavani is the top scorer in Serie A this season, with 23 goals, firing Napoli to a likely second-placed finish behind Juventus.

His blistering form has led PSG sporting director Leonardo to work overtime behind the scenes to convince him of the Parisien project, with reports in France claiming an offer of £7million per year, plus bonuses, is on the table.

Real Madrid have been favourites to sign Cavani, but due to Ibrahimovic openly courting a return to Juve, plus fears within PSG that they could also lose Ezequiel Lavezzi to AC Milan, competition is more fierce than ever.

Llorente has been very indifferent this season when I've seen him play. I've not had the chance to watch much Spanish football in the last month or so but the last I saw was that he was being kept out of the side by a striker I'd never heard of before...

Having said that, we have seen that he can definitely be a quality striker, maybe a fresh start would do him good. It all seems to have gone a bit quiet with him recently media wise, not heard anything RE Juve being in for him, but if they are, at least that'll give us a chance for Bendtner \o/

He's already signed for Juventus.
