The Official 2014/15 Premier League Thread

Why is it laughable? Try and dial down the rage he makes you feel before you answer. He didn't **** off the club when he left, he left fairly quietly, by his standards. When we played QPR a few months later, he didn't **** off the club or AVB.

Why would he want a payoff? Where else could he go after the England job was off the table. Delusional.

Counteres every now then? Don't you mean every half an hour? I have images of your room being like Ray Finkle's in Ace Ventura

Because a few million extra quid never hurts.

Haha. Rage:lol:
Of course he didn't **** off the club openly; how many have? Levy has a good water-tight method that seems to stop that.

But do you seriously think him spouting off in the media demanding a new contract (whilst Levy was away burying a relative in the States) AFTER having said that players didn't need to know who was manager (contradicting himself) went down well?
Loads of ITK have said that his relationship with Levy was strained and that Levy swiftly put an end to the shenanigans when he got back with this in mind (Harry's public spouting whilst he buried a relative was apparently the last straw).

Payoff - Well why don't YOU tell ME why he involved Rooney's notorious super-agent in contract negotiations? He still had some time left of his contract remember.
Do you honestly think Harry is stupid enough to think his contradictory and PUBLIC spoutings in the media (his mates btw) would make Levy and the board come crawling to offer him a new contract extension (especially after having c0cked-up 3rd place and CL)?

That last line was hilarious, and at least deflectS from your lack of memory ;-)

I don't think you're understanding, no manager leaves on good terms when he's sacked in private anyway, but in public, it played out quite smoothly once he was sacked, Levy stayed silent and Redknapp did by his standards. There's always ways you can have a dig at the club that have just fired you without it being libellous. Pretty sure Ramos had a few sly digs at us within the last year or so.

Sorry but I just don't buy that he was looking to get sacked. Once the England job was off the table, he was never going to get a more high profile job than Spurs without some incredible luck, certainly not in this country. Your theory might make sense if you could name a credible job offering that was on the table waiting for him.

I don't really know how to answer your last question, by the way you asked it, it's clear you want me to agree with you but maybe he thought two 4th place finishes would be enough to deserve a contract extension.

Why don'y YOU answer ME one question, name a bigger club that he could have become manager of? I know Chelsea were linked with him but they had just won the CL so they weren't going to get rid of Di Matteo in the summer, Emirates Marketing Project had just won the title, Fergie and Wenger were both still around. That just leaves Liverpool and I can't believe he would make the trip from the South coast to Liverpool every other day at his age.

I'll answer you: He would not have been able to get a job better than Spurs. He knew it. But he also knew that his image of being "the best Englishman for the England job who didn't get the England job" would quite likely take an almighty battering when he has to get us up challenging again without the likes of Modric (who would be guaranteed to leave now we failed again at getting CL), King (retirement), possibly Ade (loan), having to replace them without CL (difficult, especially with a rejuvenated Chelsea who had got back into CL via the back-door) plus the sheer weight of the other 3 who would make it difficult for us to re-establish anyway, and would likely not give us as much chance to get close. I think Redknapp knew the struggle ahead, didn't fancy it and thought rather than tarnish his reputation he'd bail out in the best looking way possible ("look i got them two top 4 finishes and look how i'm repaid").

He probably also thought sitting waiting for another big job would be better than being mid-table with us after ten games whilst we go into transition.
A big one didn't come, but imagine the kudos for him if h had kept QPR up? That would have been as good for him as our top 4 finishes; after all he inherited a complete and utter mess (and didn't his mates in the press not miss a chance to tell us such and how he was the saviour). To be clear i'm not saying QPR wasn't a mess, but him saving them would have added to his 'touch of gold' narrative. As good in that regard as taking a big job. If he did rally well, there might be a clamour for him to get the England job again. Win-win.

Alas it wasn't to be in the end and his coaching wasn't good enough for QPR.

The above is why I believe he unnecessarily spouted to the press demanding Levy give him a contract extension contradicting himself with the "players need to know who their manager is" reason. He could have just sat tight and looked to just worked to his existing contract, which still had time left. After all two 4th places would be enough anyway, right? And players don't care how long a contract the manager has, right?
So, why did he spout off to the press?

I believe he did this because of the reasons above. Can you tell me the reasons why YOU think he did it (as he didn't need to; from his own previous words)?

Adel Taarabt responds angrily to Harry Redknapp's accusation he's overweight

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt hit back at manager Harry Redknapp, who accused the midfielder of being "three stone" overweight and not nearly fit to play following the team's 3-2 home loss to Liverpool.

Taarabt wasn't on the sidelines for the Liverpool match, having instead played in a reserve game earlier in the week. Some of Redknapp's comments were related to Taarabt's performance in the game, with the QPR boss saying, "I could have run about more than he did."

The Moroccan learned of the comments from Redknapp later in the day while watching the Swansea - Stoke City match, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

"I am a professional, this is not about retaliation," said Taarabt. "This is about protecting my reputation. I played in that reserve game for 90 minutes and if he didn't think I was running, he could have taken me off.

"Just because we are losing games, I am not going to kick the ball in the stands. My job is to create, bring goals to the team. Maybe he expects me to make more tackles. I am not this type of player.

"I can only get fitness playing [in the] Premier League. You can train six or seven hours, but you won't be fit."

So far this season, Taarabt has only played in three games for a total of 25 minutes for QPR in his return season after spending 2013-14 on loan to Fulham and A.C. Milan. The 25-year-old also took shots at Redknapp's training sessions and the amount of time he spends with the team during them.

"He spends most of the time in his office, but when he gets off the phone he comes down to watch for five or 10 minutes. He never takes a [full] session," said Taarabt.

"The problem is we don't have any plan in the game, we don't know how to press as a team. It's not about just running around, you need to play with your brain.

"If you work as a team you run less. If somebody sprints 100 metres they play a triangle around him and you are never going to get the ball."

-----------------------------------

That's what you get when you run down your players in public.
It was stupid of managers like Redknapp to think players won't react back when you talk badly about them in public.
As for Taarabt, he simply don't have the mentality to become a good player. And Spurs seem to be fond of signing such players over the years.

This pretty much describes us under AVB tbh.

sounds like us under Harry too tbh.

we just had vdv, modric, bale, king, lennon, hudd, parker, ade all on top of their game

Well that's not true at all is it?

In none of the seasons Arry was in charge did we look like a team that simply presses and runs around.

New chapters of Fergie's autobiography: 'I hope that before I die someone can explain the ‘West Ham way’. What is it?

Hahahahahahahahahahahah

I did enjoy his quote from keane's book in a team talk before playing us, no tactics, no 1 on 1 battle advice, "lads, it's tottenham"

So could Chelski be heading to Old Trafford on Sunday with only Drogba as a striker?:-k

I guess this will test whether Costa is really injured...

Just have this nagging feeling that the late equaliser Manure got yesterday may just give them enough mental strength to get a win; Jose's often negative away tactics might come a cropper without a deadly and pacy CF for their counter-attacks to be based on.

And LVG might just be the type of ballsy manager to stop the Chelski train..

That's exactly how moutinho likes en - hopeful, and opening up to attack.

I think Man U will be devastated by the overwhelming Chelsea midfield.

With Fergie' almost faultless home record against us over the decades, I guess that's all that needed to be said. And when that no longer worked, he realised it was time to retire!

Ouch! I think that win at OT that AVB orchestrated REALLY becomes significant now! Probably SAF's decision to retire was made there and then...

Indeed, considering Fergie' record over the previous 25 games against us (in all comps) at Old Trafford read

Won:21 / Drawn:4 / Lost:0 / GD:+41

it must have come as a real shock to him to lose... his influence over the officials!
