The new official Premier League Nike Ordem Hi-Vis winter ball.

Is there a reason why the Premier League doesn't schedule Friday night games?

Friday night footy is an institution down here and usually has the best tv audience of all weekend games for AFL. Normally the clubs fight over who gets the most Friday night games.

In Norway they've moved the Monday night games to Friday to make it easier for the travelling fans. Don't expect that to happen in England. Of course, the average travel distance in Norway is equal to London - Glasgow.

I've often wondered this. Monday games are rubbish, always have been and always will be. Friday games are great.

Would be difficult to get a CL or Europa team to play on a Friday night (although no doubt the PL would make us play away at Stamford bridge after an away trip to Spain or something!). Would be good to see but could only happen the few weeks there wasn't European fixtures.

Tuesday-Friday is no different to Wednesday-Saturday though.

Agreed. I have always wondered why they have matches on Monday night in England. Surely, it is difficult for those travelling far to watch them. Even for those watching on TV, don't think people in Asia and Australia even bother about the Monday night games as it comes on early Tuesday morning. It will be great if they can move the Monday night matches to Friday night instead.

Indeed, considering Fergie' record over the previous 25 games against us (in all comps) at Old Trafford read

Won:21 / Drawn:4 / Lost:0 / GD:+41

it must have come as a real shock to him to lose... his influence over the officials!

I was thinking the same at that time. Losing to Spurs at home, must have humiliated Fergsuson so much that he decided to retire.

We should always be grateful to AVB for that historical win over ManU. And Hoddle will always be remembered as the manager who started our humiliating winless run of 26 matches against ManU. It is unforgivable the way that run started : we led 3-0 but somehow lost 3-5 at home. It might have affected us so much that we would then fail to beat ManU in the next 26 league and Cup matches in 11 years until AVB saved us !

Thanks for that AVB !=D>

You also cannot get a CL team to play on the Monday the same week they have a CL game on the Tuesday or Wednesday.

Should be perfectly doable in theory at least. Hope it gets considered to be honest.

Come on Sunderland and Hull. Lets knock some nails into some coffins.

Yeah. At least Hull should have a chance. Not sure about Sunderland, think they might be feeling a bit fragile still ;)

WHU fans singing about winning the league !!!

The guy who had been booked earlier, just went into the crowd after scoring, Atkinson chooses not to 2nd yellow him, no point in rules sometimes

Now Jim Beglin saying its a possibility they could win the league, oh my ****ing days hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahah

They manage in other countries (Spain, Germany?). Obviously teams playing European games that week wouldn't be playing Friday, but we don't have European games every week and could give airtime to other clubs. I think an advantage is that it would serve as an appetiser for the week-end programme of games rather than an afterthought. Besides teams with a Tuesday CL game might appreciate the shift (the Spanish us it to help their clubs).

I think it was a lame attempt to mimic the American Monday Night Football which was a huge success, although it was helped by the choice of games. They chose Monday because by tradition Friday was reserved for High School football.

In the end the monday PL game is just a way of having an extra TV slot.

Hart was also taken out quite badly but no foul given. Our players only had to look in a disparaging way at Cities for the ref to blow up for a foul.

They do work fantastically hard the Hammers, BFS has done well with the players he has got in this season

Very true but a fine line between working hard and commiting fouls. That one on Aguero who wqas just about to pull the trigger would have been a yellow for one of our players.
