The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

I would hope that our coaches call on a bit more than just their own personal experience. I also think that being able to communicate ideas and keep training varied and interesting is more important than what they were like as players.

But the thing is Milo, if he was never able to get a handle on movement as a player, I fail to see how he can communicate it as a coach. Massively judgemental I agree and there must be a reason he still has his job, but he doesn't come across as an ideas man to me. If we wanted to create a squad of Andy Carroll's then I'd be well up for Ferdinand. Probably being a judgemental arse, but I saw absolutely no improvement in our senior strikers whilst he was working with Harry, so I see no reason it will be different as an U21s coach.

Do we judge Inglethorpe's ability as a coach on his playing career?

It makes more sense for Inglethorpe to manage the NextGen team, closer age group to who he manages than U-21s.

No, I judge him on being an articulate man with ideas when he speaks Milo.

So why judge Ferdinand's ability to coach based on his playing career? We have no idea what he is working on or with whom. He survived the cull of coaches after Redknapp's sacking, so the club must see something in him.

This. The belittling of ferdinand and sherwood on this board is simply pathetic.

Nobody here knows their quality coaches.

Based on his playing career AND everything we have seen of him since. He is a striker, he was brought in as a striking coach. The only improvement we have seen in ANY of our strikers in the first team was Defoe for about a month when CLIVE ALLEN passed him some Jimmy Greaves videos... Awesome.

Guys, any idea if our academy players are educated at Southgate College? I always see plenty of young people (including girls) in Spurs tracksuits coming out of the building opposite the college.

My guess is that as part of their Academy contracts, the Spurs youngsters are required to take academic courses in case their careers in football don't work-out.

Back in the day, Chris Hughton became a fully qualified lift engineer while playing for our youth team.

Our Academy (U-18 ) kids came from two goals down at half-time to draw 2-2 with Southampton today at Spurs Way, Enfield.

Is that the first competitive youth game they've played at the new training centre since leaving Hotspur Lodge? ;)

No, they've been playing their games at Enfield for a few weeks now.

The U-21s only recently switched from Chigwell to Enfield.

Wonder if the club thought about giving loaylty points out for these and the nextgen games. Maybe just 1 or something to give a little sweetner.

Thought that, because he looked sharp and productive for the last 15/20 minutes against West Ham, showed at least enough to warrant his space on the bench so I assume he must have a knock or something.
