The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Our Under-21s travel to Southampton in the Barclays U21 Premier League tonight.

The Saints currently top Group B of the new league, unbeaten in four matches.

After losing out to Saudi Sportswashing Machine and United in our opening fixtures, we've drawn against Southampton and then secured our first win in style with a 7-2 scoreline against Stoke last week.

The match kicks-off at 7pm at Southampton's Staplewood Training Ground in Marchwood.

Our Under-21s match against Southampton in the Barclays U21 Premier League scheduled for tonight (Monday, September 24) has been postponed due to waterlogging at the Saints' training ground.

As soon as we know a re-arranged date for the fixture, we'll let fans know through our usual channels.

The Under-21s are next in action at White Hart Lane when they entertain Aston Villa in the Barclays U21 Premier League on Monday week, October 1. Kick-off is 7pm.

Pretty sure after the Everton game he got a fairly bad injury. He has a twitter I think so search for that and he'll probably have some info. Also if you have twitter I bet WindyCoys would have some knowledge of what's gone with him.

Looked like quite a capable footballer against Everton, probably would have scored if Bale wasn't having one of his Ronaldo days.

Can see him getting his way back to fitness, regaining form in the XI matches then going to Leyton Orient perhaps in January if they're in need of a striker.

Edit: Was it Everton he played against? Says Wigan on Wiki so I may be completely wrong but Everton seems for familiar to me.

Sky Sports understands that Wolverhampton Wanderers are trying to get Alex Inglethorpe to become their first-team coach.

Inglethorpe is currently in charge of the youth team at Tottenham Hotspur and is held in held regard for the job he is doing with the White Hart Lane youngsters.

He has previously had a spell as Exeter City boss between 2004 and 2006, having stopped playing in 2001 after having stints with several clubs including Watford and Leyton Orient.

The 40-year-old is now thought to have been targeted by Wolves, who are going through a transitional stage after appointing Stale Solbakken as manager in May.

Assistant manager Terry Connor had his contract terminated earlier this month to bring to an end 13 years of service.

Wolves have enjoyed a fine start to the season and are currently sixth in the Championship table after beating Peterborough United 2-0 away from home on Saturday.

Nathan Byrne has joined Crawley in League One until January.

Our Scotland U-21 goalkeeper, Jordan Archer has joined League Two side Wycombe Wanderers on an emergency seven-day loan.

I cant see that job being all that attractive to him but you never know.

I saw an interview with him a while back that someone posted here where he stated why its not important go be coaching the first team and getting the limelight, he stated he gets particular satisfaction developing youngsters and that his skills are better suited to them.

Being in a first team coaching setup also means less job security. Little chance of Solbakken getting fired IMO, but he might start to interest bigger clubs by the end of the season.

24 now but has scored a few for SJE. There must be a reason he's still on our books?

It's a funny story with Dawkins.

He was released by Spurs in 2009 but was offered a new start initially on a non-contract basis in 2011 until he proved his fitness and has spent much of his second spell with us out on loan at San Jose.

There's obviously potential there and 14 goals in the MLS is a pretty good effort.

I was reading an interview with him the other day. Seemed to want to stay at San Jose but the issue is that big money to them isn't big money to us. Apparently is one of their best players.
