Danny Rose

Got 71 minutes for Sunderland against Liverpool (1-1), subbed off due to injury. Mixed reviews off a Sunderland forum:

Should have done better for the cross that led to the goal.

Other than the goal, had a great game.

He was excellent until he got injured. The mistake he made was continuing to play while we got the replacement ready, instead of just sitting on the ground.

Incredible the amount of people claiming Rose had a good game, Sterling tore his arse out all game and I lost count of the amount of free kicks he gave away in very dangerous positions around the 18 yard box.

Bongani Khumalo

Is getting bad reviews over in Greece and his displays are lacking confidence and he is playing with pressure on him. Played in PAOKs 2-1 win against Asteras but gave away a penalty and lots of groans in the crowd everytime he touched the ball. He is getting the support of his manager, stating he is the most agile and fast player they have in the squad but even he has admitted he has noone else to replace him with.

David Bentley

Played 90 minutes for Rostov and was booked as they beat Dinamo Moscow 1-0.

The match saw debuts for Rostov’s new foreign signings, ex-England winger David Bentley and former Liverpool forward Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who both missed chances to extend their team’s lead.

Bozovic said his new signings had acquitted themselves well. "With such high-quality players like that, it's like they've already played their way into being part of the team," he said.

John Bostock

Was not in the squad for the 2-2 draw against Carlisle, looks like he's been dropped already.

Ryan Fredericks

Also not in the squad for Brentford as they lost 1-0 at Leyton Orient, however got 90 minutes in an Under-21 Professional Development League Two game against Colchester which Brentford won 6-0 with Fredericks getting a couple of assists.

The first goal came when Ryan Fredericks, who was a menace whenever he went forward, tricked his way clear on the right and crossed for Oyeleke to head home.

Fredericks set up the fourth when he darted forward three minutes in to the second half and cross for Pierre, up from the centre of defence, to turn it in from close range.

Massimo Luongo

Dropped to the bench as Ipswich lost 2-0 away to Middlesbrough. Came on in the 72nd minute.

As expected, Blues boss Paul Jewell has handed season-long loan signing Guirane N’Daw his Town debut at Middlesbrough this afternoon. The 44-times-capped Senegalese international comes into the centre of midfield alongside Andy Drury with Massimo Luongo dropping to the bench.

Will be interesting to see how N'Daw does. I wouldn't have droppd Luongo, mind... / Luongo has been one of our best performers this season. Hmmm.

Massimo Luongo replaced Drury in the Town midfield with the Blues starting to have more of the ball and look a little more threatening.

Taylor was close to grabbing the equaliser in the 84th minute after an interchange with Luongo but the ball deflected agonisingly wide.

I was a little disappointed that it was Luongo that dropped out leaving Drury as the creative outlet in the centre of the park. Luongo's greater forward drive and energy would have been more to my liking. / Luongo - gave more forward impetus and really unlucky not to start. / N'daw what was he doing in midfield, why drop luongo should have played.

Harry Kane

Came on for Norwich in the 70th minute in a 0-0 home draw against West Ham. Had two opportunities to score.

A lot has been made of the fact that Kane missed, arguably, the best chance of the game against Spurs. But the loan striker had only been on the pitch a short time, and he made a largely positive impact. I saw enough in this cameo appearance to suggest he will score goals during his time here.

Kane's poor effort was born out of a certain lack of composure expected from a youngster when under pressure.

Harry Kane will kick off our season. Didnt have the chance to settle properly today but looked a class above the other strikers on the pitch. I am optimistic.

By the time Kane is getting regular goals he will be back at Spurs, he is too young and raw and all we are really doing is helping a divisional rival develop their potential.

Simon Dawkins

Played 89 minutes as San Jose Earthquakes beat Chivas USA 2-0 away from home. Has been getting some game time as a winger and has scored 7 goals in 24 games (18 starts) so far. Nice interview with him here: http://www.mercurynews.com/earthquakes/ci_21451459/simon-dawkins-wants-stay-san-jose-earthquakes

A quick give-and-go between Justin Morrow and Simon Dawkins along the left touchline sprang Morrow into the attacking third.

Bostock continuing with his record of dire loan spells. Unless he was left out because of injury, I would be tempted to recall him and give him a few mins in the Europa or Carling Cup to see whether playing with better players made him step up. Otherwise not sure what we can do with him

He maybe should have stuck around for the U-21s but we have a lot of players playing in his position. I think he'll be released at the end of the season unless something drastic changes.

Would love to see some of the U21/NextGens get a taste of Carlisle.

Coulibaly, Pritchard (impressed me v Barca), Mason, Carroll...all good prospects!

Saw Kane's 20 minutes against West Ham. Was a really dire game, no quality and no composure. But Kane did well imo, did have a good opportunity to score but didn't really connect and he did set up an even better chance for a teammate. Generally everytime the ball came to him he did something good with it, either passing it on or creating something for himself, was close with an effort from the edge of the box which he did well to create the space with. Hopefully he'll carry on doing well when he gets the opportunities and he'll have a successful loan spell there.

We beat Stoke 7-2 in the U-21 game. First win of the season.

Team:

Our U-21 team today vs Stoke: Archer, Smith, Byrne, Veljkovic, Hall, Parrett, Falque, Mason, Obika, Carroll and Ceballos.

Some of the subs made:

First subs of the match for us and Munns, Dombaxe & Stewart come on for Carroll, Obika & Velikovic. Still 6-2.

Both from twitter. Wonder if Pritchard not being there means that he's in line for at least the squad against Lazio.

Spurs goals in the 7-2 U-21 win v Stoke today came from Mason (hat-trick), Byrne, Parrett, Ceballos & Obika.

I think some of the U-21 players today may make the bench for Lazio. It's in 3 days time.

Smith should have a good chance of the bench against Lazio,
perhaps they want to reward Mason as well - though there's many players to fit in there.

Was this U21 game played at Hotspur Way?
First ever game played at the new training ground?

I think it was at hotspur way but it's not the first game there as the academy have played there a few times

Is the Carlisle game on TV?

No. Leeds-Everton and ManU-Saudi Sportswashing Machine are the chosen games. Looks like Liverpool-West Brom might be shown abroad and there could be rivers, but for everyone else there is radio commentary at best.

UNDER-21S 7-2 STOKE - MASON LEADS WAY IN FINE DISPLAY

17 September 2012

Ryan Mason scored a hat-trick as our Under-21s put Stoke to the sword in the Barclays U21 Premier League at Hotspur Way on Monday.
The attacking midfielder registered after 11 and 23 minutes before completing his treble from the penalty spot with the seventh and final goal in the 7-2 win 15 minutes from time.

It was the team's first victory in the new Barclays U21 PL at the fourth attempt and no less impressive than the first team's performance at Reading on Sunday.

Yago Falque took just 25 seconds to underline the team's intent, his curler from 25 yards needed a decent tip over from Dale Eve in the Stoke goal.

Stoke then took the lead against the run of play in the sixth minute as Jordan Keane found himself clear from a corner and rammed the ball home.

The response was immediate as Falque rattled the crossbar and it was soon 1-1 as Falque chipped a cross to the far post where Mason powered home his header.

It was 3-1 in the blink of an eye. Cristian Ceballos gave us the lead after 14 minutes, initially winning a 50-50 before picking himself up, collecting Falque's pass and sliding home past Eve.

Seconds later, Jonathan Obika charged down Eve's attempted clearance and the ball looped into the empty net.

Nathan Byrne and Adam Smith looked to get forward from full-back throughout and Byrne curled home a beauty off the post from 25 yards to make it 4-1 after 23 minutes.

Obika and Tom Carroll went close before Stoke pulled a goal back on 39 minutes. Michael Clarkson got to the left byline and crossed low for Lucas Dawson to finish at the second attempt.

Mason had the final word of the first half with arguably the goal of the game.

Dean Parrett floated a ball up to Obika, who won a towering header into the path of supporting Mason, who buried a first-time volley from 16 yards.

After a quiet start, the second half came to life just after the hour mark with another fine goal.

Carroll darted to the right byline and cut the ball back to the near post where Parrett cushioned home a lovely volley from eight yards for 6-2.

Ceballos then struck the post from 20 yards and a couple of penalty appeals were turned away before Keane upended Smith in the box and Mason planted his hat-trick goal home from 12 yards.

Spurs U21s (4-2-3-1): Archer; Smith, Hall, Veljkovic (Stewart, 68), Byrne; Carroll (Dombaxe, 68), Parrett; Ceballos, Mason, Falque; Obika (Munns, 68). Unused subs: Vigouroux, Ekong.

Stoke (4-5-1): Eve; Rigg, Parry, Keane, O'Rielly; Thomas, Clarkson, Dawson (Scott, 72), Richardson, Nardiello (Hall, 72); Obiake. Unused subs: Gledhill, Rossi, Glasgow.

Not really followed any football yet this season im sort of playing catch up this season.

Are our youngsters playing in the same way that AVB has the first team playing? also mason is one i always rated, does it look like he will get any game time this season. A hatrick can not be bad, but if we are taking the europa league more seriously i worry for the likes of him smith and townsend how much game time they will get, caulker to.

Harry Kane made his first appearance for Norwich City in the Premier League at the weekend.

And the young striker had the chance to make it a dream debut after coming on in the 71st minute - only to be denied one-on-one by Hammers' goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen as it finished goalless at Carrow Road.

Danny Rose played 72 minutes in Sunderland's 1-1 draw against Liverpool.

Massimo Luongo came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute as Ipswich Town suffered a 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough in the Championship.

John Bostock and Ryan Fredericks didn't feature for Swindon or Brentford respectively in League One.

Away from the UK, David Bentley made his debut for FC Rostov in the Russian Premier League and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win against Dynamo Moscow.

Bongani Khumalo played 90 minutes as PAOK beat Asteras Tripolis in the Greek Super League.

Simon Dawkins played 89 minutes as San Jose Earthquakes moved eight points clear in the Western Division of the MLS with a 2-0 win against Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center.
