Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has today taken to Twitter and AS.com to announce that Liverpool are signing Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid.

According to Balague, new Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers is intent of creating a Liverpool midfield who are experts at ball retention and passing. In that vain the Anfielders have already swooped for Joe Allen to play along Lucas Leiva, and now Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin is set to be on his way from Real Madrid.

As explained by Balague in AS:

Sahin has rejected the opportunity to be part of the Luka Modric deal, but after weeks of talking to Xabi Alonso he has learned of the benefits of going to Liverpool: a special club where he could play regularly. Apparently Xabi’s work is paying off and Sahin seems convinced… Ian Ayre, executive director of the English club, is in Spain because he and Rodgers believe Sahin (and perhaps Barcelona’s Cristian Tello) can both be signed.

Sahin’s presumed availability stems from a difficult first season in Spain for the Turk.

Signed from Borussia Dortmund for €10 million last summer, the 23-year-old picked up a knee injury during last pre-season 2011, and that setback restricted him to only ten appearances last campaign. That disparate involvement, combined with the fact that Real hardly missed Sahin as they won La Liga, has fuelled belief that he is surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho.

One season on the sidelines has not dampened belief that Nuri Sahin is a world-class box-to-box midfielder. At Dortmund Sahin matured into the heartbeat of Germany’s best and most attractive team. Playing as one of two holding midfielders, he helped set the tempo whilst pitching in with the odd sublime goal or two.

Modric passion 2 play for RM and 4 Mou (and passion is the word) will beat all. He is upset with Levy but Spurs doing what they have to do

From AS:

Sahin said no to the opportunity to be part of the transfer of Modric and now take weeks hearing from Xabi Alonso mouth of the benefits of a special club where he could play regularly. Apparently, Xabi work is paying off and Sahin seems convinced. A year at Anfield will give you the confidence (and rhythm) of scarce. Ian Ayre, executive director of the English club, is in Spain because he and Rodgers believes it Sahin (and perhaps Tello) is more than possible.

Have you been sleeping the past few years Alonso ?

Fellas - follwoing yet another flimflam wum '6pm announcement' last night as well as the F5 home-page fiasco - could we ban postings from certain ItK qunts who've been proven wrong countless of times already

What is the point?

lol window after window people whinning about "itk's"

That is more sad than the sh*t they spout really

I assume you're being sarcastic?

My thinking too. He must have once had a good contact with Liverpool and/or Rafa. Based on that he set himself up as an expert on all things Liverpool and Spanish. But since Rafa left, "Billy gonad*s" has become the ITK of journalists.

Check the title of this thread, mate. That'll give you the clue as to what is allowed (pretty much anything).

I'd like posts that do nothing more than repeat the same whiny / aggressive brick over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again to be banned. But I have no more say in it than you!

but he is still a Spanish journo, probably close to Alonso and certain figures at Real, so is it that unreal that he could have some inside knowledge on what is happening with Sahin?
