Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest for the transfer of highly-rated centre-half Jamaal Lascelles.

Spurs have beaten off competition from North London rivals Arsenal to land the 18-year-old, who has made just one senior appearance for Forest. The Gunners had a ?ú5 million bid for Lascelles rejected in January but did not increase their offer, leaving neighbours Spurs able to pounce.

The England U-19 international made his professional debut for Forest in January, starting as the club lost 2-0 to Burnley. In March he was loaned out to League One Stevenage, where he impressed, making nine appearances and scoring in their 6-0 away victory at Yeovil Town in April.

The youngster is expected to sign a five-year deal at Spurs for an undisclosed fee, with Harry Redknapp willing to let him remain at Forest on loan for at least one season to continue his development.

Lascelles will face long term competition for a place from a host of talented defenders at White Hart Lane. The club are expected to complete a deal for Belgian international Jan Vertonghen this week, while England U-21 star Steven Caulker, who spent last season on loan at Swansea, is expected to return to the fold next season.

Pretty sure this 'Levy' signing/Redknapp signing thing is a load of nonesense, they are all Spurs signings. I can't see Levy sanctioning any transfers Redknapp wants without him being happy, and I just as much can't see Redknapp putting up with Levy bringing in players that Harry hasn't given some sort of approval towards.....

Why would Harry take ?ú5m+ out of his budget to buy an 18yr old? How is that going to help him?

BECAUSE there are two different budgets? The same way there is a different budget for wages. They are all separately identifiable budgets.

a) Do we definitely have two budgets then? One for Harry, one for someone else?
b) Who is making these decisions to bring in the youngsters. Levy? Or the Academy Manager? Or Sherwood?
c) If b is true, does that person have their own budget too?

Personally I think we have a main budget, and a set aside budget for youngsters. And I seriously doubt he'll cost ?ú5m up front. Probably more like ?ú2m up front and then brickloads of extras if fulfilled.

i think that budgets are a bit of a myth - sure there's a limit to what we can spend but that doesn't mean that we have a set amount available each window. young player signings like this would have little to no impact on our ability to pay for first team players

Just read that his wife died from cancer in 02, his 15 year old son died in 04 in a car crash, and his dad died last year after being run over. He then dies the day after becoming Villarreal boss..how fudging harsh life is for some.

How could you believe in GHod after that brick?? Crazy!

Not gonna turn this into a religious war fest but if you believe that GHod does the brick stuff then you also have to believe GHod does the good stuff. Works both ways.

grrrrrrrrrr

If there is going to be another religious discussion in random to keep us busy in between the Euros and transfer window someone should put odds on what will happen first, that thread dropping off the first page of random or Vertonghen signing for Spurs...

If you're a good Christian why would GHod kill you and you're whole family.? The idea of an omnipotent GHod is laughable anyway. But as you say, one for random maybe.
