Politics, politics, politics

that's why you voted the way you did - but you are ... special. Most who would be bothered by the "Labour policies" would be more alarmed by the thought of the Trotsky getting in and still vote in Tories as the lesser of evils, that's certainly the impression I got when discussing this. Very few are as "principled" as you are in this and would not cut their nose off to spite their face.
I imagine that most didn't think there was a hope of Labour getting even close. They probably didn't want to vote for May and so sat it out expecting for it not to matter.

Ok - I think you are reading what you want to read into the results but have no way of proving either way. Perhaps we can see in the next election.

There's a difference though.

If Labour stood up tomorrow and put forward a manifesto of low tax, low interference policies then they'd have my vote (especially with May in charge of the Conservatives). But there are people who claim they would never vote Tory no matter what their policies were because they believe that somehow the party itself if "nasty" and because it had the greatest peacetime Prime Minister this country's ever seen a generation ago.

Yeah, but if they did that they wouldn't be Tories would they? I would vote Tory on that premise, if they promised to re-nationalise utilities and introduced more union friendly industrial relations laws etc.

Corbyn has done his job for the left, changed the direction of travel in the Labour party whilst gaining vote share and seats in every region of the country. Once he can make the changes at the Labour Party conference to avoid any PLP stitch-ups when selecting future leadership candidates (i.e. silence the left) then Labour will be standing by with a popular, left-wing platform when the country slings the Tories out -- if that's in the near term, then Corbyn himself would probably run again. If it's down the line, then it would be another left-wing leader.

May clinging on is a gift to the left.

Except they were the only pollster whose polls showed a Hung Parliament...

I know your right-wing mindset can't comprehend it, but the youth vote and former Labour voting Ukipers voted for Corbyn's manifesto and this changed the face of the election.

Disagree all you want but it is staring you in the face.

Scara and Parklaner81 are the only two people in Britain who don't accept this.
