Personally think it's weird because Bruce really seemed to rate him and that Long and Jelavic seemed to have a decent understanding. We'll likely find out in a few months that Bruce didn't have a say in the matter.

Disagree. I rate him. He's not world class or anything, but given current market values - if Jack Rodwell is worth £10m, then Shane Long for £12m isn't outrageous.

Agree 100%. He works his socks off, is a nuisance for defenders and scores his chances. He just isn't glamorous

Exactly, it's the going rate, especially for a striker who's proved he can score a few at prem level, he may not be a fashionable name or glamorous foreign name the hipsters can rave on about, but he's proven to be decent at this level.

I remember saying last year I would be happy to see Long at Spurs. Lots of people disagreed, fair enough. But he's a decent Prem player, glad to see on this site more people thinking the same.
