Official Kabooooooom Thread

Still cannot, should not, play next to Dawson. Just doesn't work. Years later and they're just not capable of organizing a back 4, or even themselves.

I really think one of them has to go. They're the two senior centre backs at the club, they're supposed to be the one's leading others, they shouldn't need someone else to hold their hand throughout a game.

I get the potential partnerships of a stopper in Daws/Kaboul and a more cultured centre back in Verts/Vlad. But it's just such a weakness in a group of 4 that they, as our senior defenders cannot play together. Two injuries at centre back and we're really struggling. We need a bit more versatility than that I think.

Can we not rename this thread. To call him Kabooooom these days is just plain silly. The guy is spent. He is truely woeful these days.

get rid of kaboul, rose, dawson and naughton. none of them are good enough and have personally cost us so many goals this season

He's not a total write off for me, but he's been so unreliable in terms of injury that it's difficult to justify why he should get new contract.

Would like to see who we could bring in before simply binning off Dawson.

Agreed. We could justify the risk with King and Woodgate as they were truly world class defenders but Kaboul doesn't read the game nearly as well as either of them and is too injury prone to ever get fully match fit nowadays.

At least he has set a new standard at the club whatever happens in the summer...

@OptaJoe: 4 - Younes Kaboul has now been sent off for Tottenham Hotspur more often than any other player in Premier League history. Bath.

I would keep Naughton, has made some errors but shown to be a capable back up and is generally solid. Tracks his man properly etc unlike rose.

injury is the only issue i have with him. Other than that i think he is an excellent SQUAD player

Btw, if his injury problems continue that's a major issue for a squad player.

One thing you do need for a squad player is that they will be available when others are injured.

Shocking - compared to Ledley's stats (8 bookings in 268 league games and no red cards).

Ledley was a master of timing the tackle, though, he was never clumsy and even when he lunged for the ball, it was a calculated lunge and almost always got the ball.

Ledley was one of the best tacklers and most intelligent defenders I have ever seen. Kaboul is a clumsy giraffe by comparison.

because he's extremely overrated.

He's looked better than Kaboul though!

The thing for me is that sometimes a defensive unit has to be thought about as well as individual players. We sold Bassong, but him and Dawson were a really effective pair and although not the best players individually, together they just worked.

much of a muchness.

Kaboul has been shocking THIS SEASON but he's proved his worth in seasons gone. He wouldn't have demanded a big fee like Caulker too so it made sense.

Do you think it's a lack of match fitness / sharpness though KD? For me, I'd give him next season in terms of sorting out his injuries and form, if neither improves then yea, we'd probably have to part ways. I just think since he's come back from Pompey, when he's been truly fit, he's been really good so deserves a bit of time to see if he can get it back.
