Official Kabooooooom Thread

We need to wash our hands of Kaboul this Summer. There is no point in having a player who is injured for three quarters of the season. Lescott on a free would do me nicely as his replacement. Offers the added benefit of being able to cover at left back as well.

His hair alone warrants him a place in the side.

Whether it's bs or not I doubt Wenger would want kaboom even on a free, sorry to say he just isn't good enough for a top team, especially with his injury record!

Yea I had high hopes since he returned from Pompey and had a very good season. But his injuries and now his consequent poor performances have us all thinking maybe we don't have a place for him in the team.

Doesn't look sharp on the ball at all. In fact most of our back four aside from Chiriches and Walker look petrified of the ball. Vertonghen seems to have lost a lot of confidence.

Whatever we decide we need to work on a partnership that will be consistent and ever present (or at least as much as possible).

Look at Mertesacker and Kosielny or Cahill and Terry. They have so many games played together and a genuine understanding.

Kaboul needs to be cut some slack.

How many players come back from lengthy injuries and hit top form straight away? Sandro is in equally poor form at the moment but seems to be immune of the same level of criticism. The only possible exception I can think of is King but he was simply a freak a nature. If (and going by the past couple of seasons it's a big if) Kaboul can stay injury free for a consistent period of time he will prove to be an asset. He's an excellent defender and was absolutely vital to us before.

One a seperate note, I think central defence is a position that you can really judge a player as a single thing. The good centre back partnership elevates both players to another level and it's so important to their effectiveness for the team. Consider that Kaboul has come back into a team devoid of confidence, from an extremely lengthy injury, with constantly changing personnel, it would be premature to just toss him away in the summer.

Aside from the poor performances we just cannot really have another season from him like this or last where he is not fit for a continual period of time. It's a strain on the squad and doesn't allow us to ever settle on a preferred partnership. Most people had Kaboul and Vertonghen as their preferred partnership at the start of the season.

The man is past it sadly.

I don't doubt that as a possibility, we've seen it happen so many time before, but I still thinks it's too premature to say that for certain.

If he's got another year on his contract then he's worth keeping

Agreed, he deserves the benefit of the doubt. It was only a couple of seasons ago where he was only behind Kompany in regards to level of performance, he was colossal. He has been injured on and off for 2 or 3 seasons now, anybody coming back from an injury nightmare like he has experienced would struggle to find form again so swiftly, particularly into a team that has no defensive structure implemented whatsoever. While there is no guarantee he'll regain the form he once displayed a few seasons back, it is worth giving him the opportunity to try and do so simply due to the level of performance he once displayed.

Thought he was older than 28 in all honesty.

I don't so much mind his poor form because that's almost certainly down to being out so long. It's whether you can ever bank on him having a run in the team, or being available when others are out. Sadly, probably not, and best to free up his squad number.

i think Moyes will sign Kaboom and turn him into Utds version of Distin

He has reminded me of Gallas in his last season with us. No pace, no power and unable to jump. Injuries have caught up with him I'm afraid.
