Official Kabooooooom Thread

I'm assuming that Eto'o spectacular swan dive, which led to the dismissal of Kaboul, would be assessed. Eto'o seemingly cheated to get an unfair sporting advantage and so, in my mind, retrospective action should be taken to penalise him in the wake way that retrospective action was taken to pardon Kaboul. Otherwise Chelsea gain everything out of it whilst we don't really gain any equality as the result, and decision, can't really be reversed.

After all, surely it's not a penalty to simply touch another player or games would be littered with penalties. Just think of all the tussles, with more contact, during corners!

Wasn't the decision that the red card was not justified? Did the FA also say it wasn't a penalty?

They can't pass judgement on the penalty call, just the red card.
I assume that they revoked the sending off because of the relatively slight contact made, Dawson's position and the direction of the ball's movement after Eto'o had touched it - i.e. it was not a situation or challenge worthy of a red card.
That is not the same as them also saying it was not worthy of a penalty. As far as we know, they may have thought the penalty was fine but Younes should only have been booked.

That's what I thought. Some on this thread are calling for retroactive punishment for Eto'o going down easily, and we all know that Ckel$ki players NEVER do that.

Worst player on the pitch yesterday.
We cant possibly expect to play him on Sunday and not make more mistakes.

Brutal and even though TS came out and said he was happy with the desire, watch him on the chance at the very end of the game. Gives up completely.

I thought he was massively overated during his first stint here, too error prone, lacked concentration. He started to convince me otherwise in his second stint but now he seems back to his old self.

Wow I think in a desperate attempt to seek answers the masses are turning on the players.

Paulinho and now Kaboul.

Kaboul was our best centre back for a season not so long ago so I judge him on that, not performances during what is a joke period for the club off the pitch...

One decent season doesnt make a good player.
He's always been unreliable without someone like King beside him.
He's no captain and lwho knows if he's even capable of playing a run of games anymore.
He can head the ball well though ;)

And during a bad period is exactly the time to judge your players. Anyone can put in a good performance in a good team.

Many on here are forgetting how match rusty Kaboom is. I don't know the exact number of games he's played in the last couple of seasons but it can't be many, and he has not played many consecutive games either. Give him a run of games and the chance to form a partnership with another CB then judge his overall worth to the squad.

He is rusty but yesterday was atrocious from the set peices. Having watched Benfica a fair few times at set pieces their major threat is always Luisao! always! so much so they use him as a decoy on some occasions. Younnes for all his effort yesterday, in which he did put in a stint. Did no pick him up on corner. Let him stay at the edge of the box with close marking and got easily blocked off for him to get a free header. When it happend i was gob smacked. He is the one player you should be shirt tight to from a set peice and not allow him any movement at all. But no. He had a free run at the ball.

The 3rd goal they used him as a decoy. Younnes drops off him to double mark Garry so that when the ball comes lose there is knowone on Luisao who he should have been marking. I also think Lloris could have done better to beat the ball away and off the pitch and not straight back out but im picking there.

I like Younnes and he is match rusty. But those two moments are nothing to do with being out for a while. They are basic marking and he failed twice costing us two goals. A 1-1 for how poor we played attacking wise we were still in the tie. Now we are done.

Surprised this thread wasn't bumped after the Arsenal game.

Thought he was very shaky again. His biggest problem is that he seems to think he is a footballing center-half. He's not, he's a big lump that should be concentrating what he's good at, heading the ball, bullying strikers and giving the ball to the nearest man who can play when he wins it.

He was shocking against Arsenal, no doubt about it. I think it is clear from previous times out that he needs a real run of games where he will look shaky and make rash decisions before settling down. Unfortunately, he always seems to need 8-10 games to get back into the groove and of course over the last 3 years he hasn't been able to string that together before being injured.

I have total faith in him if he he can have a run of games to the end of th season, have a good, strong and injury free pre season. He is a very good CB when he is on his game but unlike some players he can't just come back in and play reasonably well like he has never been away, he always looks shaky for a certain period.

london evening standard reporting that Kaboul picked up a knock on sunday and is a big doubt for Thurs......No Vertonghen, no Dawson, no Chiriches and now possibly no Kaboul

FFS how do we do it?!? I have never ever heard of any instance where a club has had four (!) centre backs injured at the same time...well maybe except the last time it happened with Spurs, which I'm sure it has. Ridiculous!!

We need to wash our hands of Kaboul this Summer. There is no point in having a player who is injured for three quarters of the season. Lescott on a free would do me nicely as his replacement. Offers the added benefit of being able to cover at left back as well.
