Official Kabooooooom Thread

We're in full agreement on Vlaar.

I think Vertonghen can be that player though, although he's the only one of our current lot that has shown that ability. Had a lot of good games alongside Dawson in his first season here for example iirc.
yeah but Dawson was the leader and organiser........we shall see with Vertonghen, maybe it will take time for him to feel settled enough to take charge of the defence. He certainly seems to be an introverted character on the pitch

Most players have a mistake in them.

The main issue with Kaboul has been that he needs the right partner (like Dawson, why they've never worked together). He needed a Gallas or King next to him that could organize the back 4 and allow him to do his thing. I really think Vertonghen can be that player, will be interesting to see what would happen if Kaboul and Vertonghen could get 4-5 games next to each other in a row this season.

That's the standard response to someone saying 'he has a mistake in them'. It's a saying I hate, but you know what I mean with Kaboul. Has a tendency more than most to switch off mentally. So although every player has 'a mistake in them', what I'm trying to say is that he is more prone to them than others. When I say mistakes, I don't necessarily mean goal causing mistakes either, I'm talking about falling asleep at corners, not following men properly, getting caught on the ball in bad positions etc etc. His decision making can be questionable at times as well. Although when he's in the right frame of mind he can look a good player. I think it's all mental for him.

I do agree with you though that a good partner might help him. Be interesting to see how he would go with Vertonghen. Although I think Kaboul see's himself as as much of a ball playing centre back as Vertonghen, which he most certainly is not.

I honestly thought this was going to be 'his' season and he'd be at his prime. But he's been absolutely abysmal today

Christ, he had a bad day. I think with Fazio, Verts, Dier and Chiriches, we're set at the back: do all we can to get him to agree to go to Lazio if want him, because he will be an absolute liability this season if he stays.

He can stay as a backup to Fazio. Atm I think we can afford to keep him around but on today's showing, not as our first choice

Can't wait for Fazio, hopefully all the power and none of the stupid errors. He's the Seville captain too so can hopefully command and organise the rest of the backline.

Why keep him, it's mistake after mistake. Near enough every week he keeps giving the ball away, is always out of position etc. Got 2 stupid red cards as well last year as well as being at fault for numerous goals.

He doesn't strike me as someone who can be out for a while and come in as backup when required either.

I have never ****ged a Spurs player off on this board, but today, I break that tradition.

There simply is no room for this player anywhere near our first eleven. He must send shivers through the minds of our midfield whenever he gets the ball at his feet.
A walking liability if ever I have seen one.

I thank you for coming back to us, from Portsmouth, when Harry was in charge..you did OK...but your time is now well and truly up.

Can someone tell this twunt of a joke footballer that he is to be sold.

Team fcuking captain. My fcuking ar$e!

Kaboul in a china shop needs to be carefully removed from THFC before he does any more damage.

I'm amazed at how many times he gets bullied and nudged off the ball for a supposedly big, strong centre half. Perhaps it was just King making him look good like he did with Dawson.

Like others have said, way too many errors, I don't think he actually did anything right in the West Ham game.

I thought a few games might sharpen him up, but he seems to be getting worse. We can't depend on him as a first-teamer.

Re: Kaboul

Thought we had option for another year

This current season is the option. We could have released him in the summer if we hadn't exercised it.

Excellent game today, really played like a captain

Agree. His best game in many years.

One small caveat is that (like Dawson before him) defending that deep really suits him. It's in higher lines where his poor decision making is costly.
