Official Kabooooooom Thread

yep just re-read my post

"All those defenders that came off the top of your head either

played with King...,
Partnered Dawson,

Lost their spot to dawson"

so the bit in bold got chopped off and the remaining statement became my stance.

I feel like i talked to the papers

think i've dedicated all the time i have available on this one unfortunately

fill your boots

I obviously misread you, sorry.

I think the rest of my points stand. And obviously players that played with King was an attempt to upgrade on Dawson it would seem to me. Players that eventually lost their spot to Dawson after becoming to old and injury prone rather obviously also were brought in as upgrades. I think that leaves Bassong that did get a lot of games in his first season, but failed to establish himself at the level we wanted. You can obviously argue that the plan was to partner him with Dawson as our first choice, I don't think that's the case.

I read something yesterday that suggested that some teams are looking to pick him up from us. When does his contract end? it seemed from the story that they were insinuating he could be picked up on a bosman or something. I know we want him to prove his fitness this season so i hope he does. I prefer him to Dawson any day.

He has one more year on his contract. Unusual for us but I think with his injury record I can understand the club not entering contract talks with a player who hasn't played for two years. I'd imagine if he keeps himself fit for the rest of the season, we will try to sort things out this summer. I'd like to think he would like to stay and repay the faith the club has shown him, but then again he could get a massive signing on fee from someone else.

Never been clarified by the club, although what's been said in the media is that his contract is up come the summer.

When he was signed he was absolutely desperate to join us I'm sure. And Levy loves his x years + 1-2 year option contracts. Wouldn't be surprised at all if we have one of those for Kaboul.

He's essentially been out injured for 18 months, if we wanted to renew with him we would have been in a very strong negotiating position last summer for example.

Not worried for now.

So....we're appealing the red card right?

Right?

Not like our next game is a meaningless friendly...

I can't see it being successful - not the way refs are protected by the FA.

There wasn't enough contact for a foul, but there was more than enough for the FA to say the ref was right.

Does anyone hav a gif/video of the incident? Can't find it online, and would like to see what it's all about.

Exactly this unfortunately. At least we can give everything to the EL. Goodness knows how we'll line up against the scum. We've missing having a consistent back 4 under TS.

As usual things conspire against us and we will end up fielding half a team against AFC whilst they will have every player fit bar Wingnutt and Spack

According to the Standard we will find out tomorrow whether the appeal has been successful

i think it has to be Sandro and Vertonghen as a cb pairing for the NLD

That would be a big mistake IMO. Sandro was all over the place for the Chelsea match and didn't really know where he was supposed to be on a couple of occasions. He's not a natural CB and will be found out badly versus L'****. Round pegs etc. Sandro + Dembele as the midfield pair, and Vertoghen and either Kaboul, Fryers or Veljkovic as the CB pairing for me.

i very much doubt Kaboul will win the appeal, I cannot wait to see Fryers bombed out of the club, a terrible defender, and the kid we know fcuk all about. Against Chels the whole team was all over the place once Kaboul and Dawson went off. Playing sandro there is not ideal, but id rather an experienced head there than a kid. Plus iirc Sandro has had previous experience of playing at centre half back in his Brazil days. A week of intense training with Verts would help

I don't trust Sandro back there either to be honest and moving him there would weaken two positions rather than one IMO. Sandro is a good tackler but that doesn't always make a good CB. Moving Vertoghen to LB causes us similar problems. If these other centre backs are not up to playing in the position they train for day in day out then why are they at the club? I'm a firm believer of not shifting your best players out of position to compensate for a perceived weaker player. Anyway fingers crossed Kaboul gets off.
