The wages are a bit of a red herring I think. We would have the player available for selection and of course we have to pay his wages.
The negotiable bit is the transfer fee and obviously that is what we are we're haggling over.

Actually I think Mark has a point - I'm all for Levy haggling over millions but in the grand scheme of football transfers a few hundred thousand is not a lot to a club like Spurs. Perhaps they're waiting to see if we can offload anyone before committing to the extra wages.
