sounds like he got a rollicking from somewhere (maybe us) about being too open, ties in with our statement. If anything still leaves it open saying he will talk to us.

Interesting, you do worry that already he has shown a lack of discretion, perhaps even professionalism to just not say much apart from the mundane...that or he is angling for others to usurp our bid to get him signed up :-k

To be honest, FDB coming out and talking all the time is pretty much putting me off him a little bit. His pedigree and achievements speak loudly enough for us to take notice so why is he fluttering his eyelashes at us.

Maybe he thinks he needs to? Maybe he's showing others he's available? Maybe his agent told him it was the best thing to do? Maybe his brother told him it was the best thing to do?
I still think it was a case of the club asking him to keep quiet for the time being to avoid any more problems with the sacking of Sherwood

Gotta be Frank De Boer for me. I'd choose him over Benitez all day long. He's won the Dutch league 4 times in a row and Ajax hadn't won it for about 7 years before that. Never really liked Benitez.. Just doesn't strike me as a very likeable character.

Are you as impressed with Neil Lennon at Celtic?

Whoever the next manager is, I can only hope he is a unifier. Redknapp was divisive, AVB was divisive and Sherwood was divisive (and just generally gave many of us a pretty **** feeling about our team).

Someone the majority of fans can get behind so that watching games at WHL isn't a chore and posting on gg isn't a battle.

I think FDB would be that unifier. Benny Hill would still be divisive. Ultimately though you will always have that minority against the Manager no matter what.

That's what i'm thinking now tbh.

I'm done with these pretenders that talk a good game but fail miserably when trying to apply their philosophy on the pitch.

From what I can remember Liverpool were not only a tad boring but Benny was the guy that wanted to bring in Barry to replace Alonso for example. My lasting memory of Benny Hill is that - so I cant say I would be excited by him.

I want the following criteria to be followed when we appoint our next manager :

1) have managerial experience of more than 5 years
2) have won the domestic league title/Cups with atleast 2 different clubs
3) have won trophies in atleast 2 different leagues/countries
4) have good track record of turning decent players into excellent ones
5) have not failed in the English league before

That will rule out Frank De Boer. I think appointing De Boer is very risky as he has only managed in the Dutch league which is shyte. Hope we will appoint a more experienced and successfull manager.

His thinking behind it wasn't as crazy as some like to make out though.

He wanted to do that to give Gerrard more freedom. At the time Alonso was a deep lying playmaker but didn't show as much of his defensive capabilities as he is now. Benitez obviously thought sacrificing Alonso for a pure sitting DM like Barry would allow Gerrard to get further up the field and get in those dangerous attacking positions more often.

I think of the guy who has appeared in 3/4 Champions League finals, won the CL, won the EL has won trophies and spent his whole employment in three major leagues.

The guy who yesterday won the Italian cup, adding another major honor to the list. His one real failure was Inter, where he still won the world club championship.

Not bad for a "Benny Hill."

Better than a guy who has never given a press conference in English, got sacked from Espanyol and guided Southampton to 8th in the prem, I'm sure you'll agree.

If it isn't going to be FdB (obviously your first choice) would you rather "Benny Hill" or Pochettino?

You've gotta think that if Poch n De Boer were close in Levy's mind the whole embarrassment this week will have swung things strongly in Poch's favour.

People will hate me however I believe that the next manager should have established premier league experience.

It surprises me to think that the door is closed to Steve Bruce, Tony Pulis etc. simply because they have not won anything and have been sacked or quit from lesses jobs.

Let's not forget that spurs also don't have a track record of winning anything. All these guys know the league, know what it takes to win and would be hungry to take the chance....bit like our most successful recent coach, Redknapp.

So what's stopping us going for one of these guys? The ego of the fans.
