Question for people is do they think VDV/Modric/Ade/Gallas type players would either listen to Rogers or stay at Tottenham based on a vision that includes Rogers?

Look at Cheat$ki with AVB, and AVB had far more pedigree than Rogers ...

These players will stay at Tottenham if they have to. It's their agents that's the problem. If somebody decides that they want to leave if we get a new manager, then good bye IMO.

GARETH BALE today tells Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp: "You can't turn down the England job."

In his most explosive interview ever, the Spurs winger insists Redknapp must quit the North London club if the FA want him to take charge of the national team.

Bale said: "We all want Harry to stay. But he is a great manager and if England do come calling it's one of those lifetime opportunities that you just can't turn down.

"I wouldn't blame him for going. You never know if that opportunity will ever come around again.

"Clearly it's going to be his choice and only he knows whether he wants the job or not. If it is the dream job for him."

And the Welshman, 22, insists Spurs will not miss Redknapp — providing his replacement is in the same mould. Bale said: "You need a big manager who can handle the pressure and handle top-quality international players.

"Harry is a fantastic manager who can handle high-calibre players and expectations at the club.

"If we get a manager like that I dare say it won't make too much difference."

Agree, weather players like Bale, Modric etc stay will have nothing to do with Redknapp staying or going, its a myth that is used by the pro Redknapp phalanx as another reason to keep him here. What will/may make players want to leave is if we fail to make the Champs Lge.

As for Rodgers, well i would rather we got him then Moyes.

If players are getting paid and the club is moving forward then they'll stay whoever the manager is.

you are comparing apples and oranges mate

how has a manager with the pedigree of Redknapp (which isn't very high in terms of trophies etc) able to get players like Luka VdV and Bale onside ?

what goes on behind the scenes, on the training field and off of it gives the players a reason to believe in the manager - NOT purely what a manager has achieved, in fact all a trophy list will get a manager is a bit more time to impress if things go wrong - if a man with little experience can convey to the players he is the right man for the job they will not care that he hasn't already won the Champions League a million times before or every league title there is to win - because it is what you will do that is important - not what you have done

If players are playing in a winning team that entertains and allows them to flourish, while they are well paid etc I dont think they care who the manager is.

Also, I would imagine they would respect a manager based on the man he is, not his prior achievements.

exactly - id imagine after a couple of weeks (max) the players will have a good idea if a new manager is someone they can see taking us forward / someone they want to work for.

the AVB situation suggests to me that he never done enough to convince the players he was the right man for the job - as well as, as it seems, tinkling off the senior players at the same time. which goes along with what i said in the first place

also the senior players at Chelsea are quite clearly a bunch of utterly despicable cretins who are all too close to the Chairman for any manager to be able to truly take charge

None of the above. I'd go with Gus. Yes, he is still young and in development. But I think the players would give him the respect.
Also, the way he plays is similar/Same to the "Tottenham Way"

No idea where all this Martinez / Poyet love is coming from. Neither of them rightly have a chance of getting the job.
If Levy can't get a top tier Manager, it will be a safe pair of hands like Moyes or Martin O'Neill.

I wouldn't touch Poyet with a barge pole. He needs to be in the job for a while longer and get some experience first.

I would hate to see MON here, i would die of boredom watching his style of football.

Holly brick .. MON, wtf, why not go for Fat Sam ?? one of the worst managers, total dinosaur style, 80's crap english football.

Gotta love Brendan Rodgers quote regarding the Chelsea job "I am trying to build my career and not destroy it.' :ross:

If we can't get Mourinho (don't think we will tbh), then Rodgers would be my choice.
