Jose Mourinho - SACKED

All relative really. If Everton win the league and we finish 4th it will be a question of why the fudge were we not pressing for it.

If we finish 5th and Emirates Marketing Project win it with the usual favourites ahead of us it will be seen as ineviteable.

I think if we win the europa league the season will be a success regardless.

Problem being, a top 5 finish and a league cup win will be classed as a very successful season even if it is papering over the cracks.

If Jose stays in charge, I think we'll be at least 10 points behind 4th place, probably more like 15 points, and probably finish 7th/8th

As someone vehemently pro Jose I'd still consider that a disaster. We have to be in the CL.

Honestly, we'll be light years behind 4th place. Given you say how pro Jose you are but that we have to be in the CL, would you therefore agree that Jose should be fired if we dont look like finishing top 4?

I'd be over the moon with a EL win and no ones getting sacked if they deliver that.

I think in around March/April time, Jose will change to target the EL realising what you say above. That will obviously further hit our league performances though

Depends on my perception of the reasons, right now I think our issues are more from the players than anything else.

The thing is the mood isn’t borne out purely about how we sit now, as on paper it isn’t that bad and if that is the same at the end of the season then Jose will still be here.

my fear, based on the last dozen games is we are regressing. When we were conceding goals after taking the lead, I was still optimistic this was something Jose would address, and as things solidified we’d perhaps pick up more goals as teams becomes more desperate to equalise. The issue now is the instead of going 1-0 up and not always hanging on is we are now going behind and not hitting back. Without Kane our attacking play is looking more fractured and the shuffling of defensive personnel, including a couple who have been trusted for most matches to date makes me question how we can improve performances and results with some difficult matches coming up.

Regardless of the aesthetics of the performance, the PPG for the season is acceptable but the PPG for the last 9 games isn’t, so depending whether the trend continues or reverses will determine whether Mourinho gets the season. The Europa league would be amazing but I’m sure he’d get the chance to play all of the games if we crash right down the table, as that usually goes hand in hand with losing the players.

if only Redknapp had taken that approach when he was the manager, why didn't he get in our players heads during either of the end of season collapses he oversaw where we threw away CL qualification
I’m still in shock that a team containing near prime Bale & Modric plus van der Vaart, Walker, King, Sandro, Adebayor and Defoe could only win 4 of their last 13 games  at least we bottled it with free-flowing football I supppose!

Because " rent a quote" is a crook a liar and thanks to Levy we are the only club he has been sacked from who were not left in serious money problems.

This dream that some messiah is going to come in and turn this crop of players is laughable. These players bottled the champions league final, since they got top they just fell apart. There is something wrong with the meteorology of them, and Jose has pretty much the best mental strength to make players winners. I understand the Jose's current criticism but let's not get ahead of ourselves here and think someone can come in and turn it around. It may work for a few games but we will be back to square one of being mediocre and go backwards.

I agree, its been so obvious for a long time that some/most of our players lack mental strength ( despite what some insist is not true). We blew several chances during Poch"s time here to have won something but we blew it every time, the players are now older as well and maybe not as good as they once were.

To start the season Jose seemed to have stopped the rot with some of these players but it has not lasted long and it will not with any manager until we get rid of those who are just going through the motions.

Managers usually have to deal with players that were at the club before they arrived, nothing new there.

Really? keep coming with these nuggets.

I think the point that Parklane was making was that replacing the manager doesn't mean that the same players that have failed previously poch and are now failing mourinho will all of a sudden become world beaters.

You have such an agenda that you cannot even make a balanced case.

The majority of people here acknowledge mourinho is having a poor spell, but at the very least they know its not all down to him but a large part being the players at the club.

That's because I don't think it is the players?

I don't think that because he's Mourinho i think that because of what we've seen across various matches over the last year and how the squad is being managed.

Now unless you want to actually debate anything i don't actually have to justify myself or position to you.

I don't see anyone talking about world beaters or title challenges, i don't know why this keeps getting thrown around as though the only options are playing badly or winning the league - how about something inbetween?

If Pochs players are the problem then freeze them out like he did with Dele and Rose, don't keep playing them - don't give them new contracts or make them important parts of team. We started 7 players from Pochs time v Brighton but Mourinho is picking them and deciding to do so when there are other options available to him.

Ok princess. You actually think its nothing to do with the players ... its mourinho putting on the kit and not doing the business ... laughable.

I think if a manager was doing an ok to good job with this squad then we would be playing better football and would be about 7-10 points better off.
