Harry Kane MBE

Look at it from Postecoglou's and the club's perspective as well. We might mount a challenge for silverware this season, but more likely next. There is going to be a bedding in period. Postecoglou has had this in previous clubs. Some patience whilst the new way of playing takes shape. And then the players learn and adapt to the setup. So you're building for next season, you'll take anything this season as a bonus. Would you build your side around Kane knowing he was intending to walk next summer?
A bedding-in season without Kane means a mid-table finish, top 8 at best.

A bedding-in season with Kane gives us a chance at a EL finish, maybe even CL if Ange can get the machine whirring by Christmas.

£100m buys you a lot less than it did when we sold Bale. With the increased revenues from NWHL, it's no longer crucial to us being able to rebuild. Being in a position to attract players, at least without having to offer packages that blow other clubs out of the water, is more important.

Let's not forget, while negotiating the future, it is all posturing. It won't come down to atually shutting the guy out, but that remains on the table. Giving all sides what they need is key to any successful negotiation and discussion. As outlined previously, so long as there is good faith, they can work out a setup that gives all sides what they need. And to me that looks like a new contract with break clauses so Kane and Postecoglou primarily can discover how they work together. Key to Postecoglou's way of playing is a pressing forward. That could reduce Kane's longevity in itself. POstecoglou can adapt, and change his system, especially if Kane is committed, but won't if he's off next year. No point. £100m is still a massive chunk of money. It is effectively a doubling of our profits pa.

Top 5 should get cl this season. Possibly top 7 although very unlikely.

So that's Emirates Marketing Project and Arsenal, annoyingly, neither of whom show any signs of suddenly dropping 5 places.

That leaves 3 spots, with us (hopefully), Saudi Sportswashing Machine, ManU, Liverpool, and Chelsea to fight over them.

Poch has a lot of work to do at Chelsea and hopefully Manchester United won't be as lucky as they were last season. With Kane, a non-broken attacking system, and a more sorted defence, I think we have a chance of finishing ahead of those two.

Loads won't agree but I wouldn't say tip 5 is out of the question. With more tweaks I think our first 11 looks extremely strong. Alot will rely on the guys hitting the ground with the new system.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine will have to deal with cl and also the fact the honeymoon period is over. Their fans have been on a wave of positivity but expectation will now set in. A few bad results or even performances might change the atmosphere.

Everything to play for. At least a good cb and kane staying. Exciting football and the fans support can push us on.

So if you are right that those are the 7 clubs.
5 out of 7 get into the CL.
Pretty good odds.
Considering Cheatski were awful last year, anything could happen.

As long as english teams do well in europe next season. The 2 countries that do best get an extra cl spot.

(You probably already know that, just clarifying for anyone reading).

We can make top 5. That would be a very good season, but it's possible. Especially with no European distraction.

Quick question - why are there 5 CL places? UEFA being UEFA?
