I want both players tapped up and brought in for nothing next summer. If that is allowed with there ages. Rub it in the faces of there owners.

Mate told me this afternoon (down the pub) that a Whammer site was saying we are interested in Reid and Morrison as neither have agreed terms.

I cant see Reid signing a 5 year deal for them, he is a pretty decent CB, unless its just a ploy to get any transfer fee up for him for when they sell

Now that Lovren has gone to Pool, is it likely that we'll chase Winston Reid with more vigour?:-k

In fact, are there other CBs Poch is chasing?

Let's hope so, most of those that were highly touted for moves have now aready moved to new clubs. Maybe he has some good contacts in South America

Baldini knows that market. He discovered both Walter Samuel and Marquinhos over there and brought them to Europe.

Schar at Basel and Nastasic from City would probably be the next two names on my list now Moreno and Lovren are off the tables.

I don't really understand why City look like they want to sell Nastasic?

Me neither - he looks a great prospect. Just an embarrassment of riches I guess?

Apparently we have strong director-level links to City, so that might give us an edge over Arsenal, who they will also view as a more direct rival.

He would be ideal for us.

players go where they want....if Arsanal want him, offer bigger wages, and pay what City want, i dont see any director level relationship helping us

Re: Morgan Schneiderlin

The whole midfield obsession spurs seem to have is concerning. Our midfield is the area that probably needs the least work (ignoring the goalkeeper)..

A tight defence and strikers who score goals are far more concerning issues.

Exactly...just look at how our defence performed last season...a complete shambles at times!

and lets hope the strikers stop firing duds......

anyway Coys... LOL

I remember the first quarter of the season when Dawson and Vertonghen performed like beasts. Sadly they both suffered injuries and the clown that is Kaboul...and his sidekick Chiriches decided play like imbeciles.

Re: Morgan Schneiderlin

I like Daws, but of all our CB's he has looked the least happy with Poch's system of building play from the back.

Our defence played like **** last season because of the lack of protection in front together with fb's overcommitting. Even a world class performer like lloris was made to look incompetent at times last season. The defenders imo are fine. If we get the protection in front of it correct which mean bringing in someone like schneiderlin who comes deep and either takes the ball of weaker ball players like dawson or covers when verts and kaboul maraud forward we will be tighter imho. So I agree with KD. However I suspect most of the Dawson haters will soon get their way and he will be off. BTW in terms of strikers that's why we are looking at a double deal for MS and Rodriguez.

This, the FBs being vastly inexperienced (Rose/Naughton) and the tactics bordering on suicidal, plus no DM created a situation of too much isolation of defenders, too much pressure and the inevitable mistakes.

Just watching us play in preseason, when the FB was 3/4 way up the pitch, a midfielder stepped into the space to cover, also the difference with Capoue on or off the field was noticeable as well.

Decent tactics, proper balance to midfield selection, fit back line (Walker/Vert especially) could make a very big difference.

I think Vertongen lost his way last season..certainly outpaced at times and made some stupid fouls..that did not help Dawson,,Kaboul was eventually found out of his depth!

Where Dawson played well some seasons ago , the prem has moved forward so much more with more classy Internationals in the game.

I feel he is at best a squad player and we need to bring in players who are faster and read the defensive line better.

Coys................
