Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Yes true. The smart thing to do would be to issue a deadline, publicly or privately to Bale, Perez and Bales agent. If no agreement is reached by Wednesday next week, the deal is off, we will not entertain any negotiations for transfer this window. Black and white.

Agreed. We should have asked Bale and his agent to sort his future before the season starts. The longer this saga drags on, the more difficult it is for us to plan for next season. We should have prepared our first 11 for next season with Bale or his replacement by now.

Re: Gareth Bale

We need a deadline like Dortmund issues with Lewandowski. They said if he wasn't sold by a certain point he was staying and they kept their word.

If we sell Bale and get the 2 or 3 players in needed to replace him then great. If we sell him on deadline day with no time for replacements I will be fudging furious.

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm hoping he doesn't play today because if he does then the injury was a complete sham. If he doesn't I think it's still possible there is a genuine injury.

As for him not having enough preseason, to be honest there's not much blending to be done. You give him the ball he does the rest. Simples.

Much, much more worried about the lack of centre backs than the win-win situation that is Gareth Bale.

Re: Gareth Bale

How does one injure his buttox anyway? What do we think of his hurt hinie? Needs to man up. Ronaldo never injures his butt

being called up to the Welsh team pretty much means it's a sham.

This is a concern. Although to be honest, I am slowly coming around to the idea of only having three CBs plus an 'emergency' one (Capoue, possibly). That would probably open up some chances for one of either Fryers or Veljkovic in the League Cup/EL games, and I'd like to see us start bringing more guys through.

Really? I see it as the reverse. He's been called up to the Wales squad for a game on Wednesday so if he's fit for that then he should be ok for today. If he played today then there'd be no reason to doubt the legitimacy of his injury.

Re: Gareth Bale

There'll be no change for anything... We'd have tied up multi millions in extra wages over the next 5 years.

exactly.... no deal.....we will be better off saying no and reaping Bale commercial benefits for a year,

Bale is a markets dream and after all the exposure this summer - if we somehow manage to keep him the club will be on a nice little earner...not to mention good chance at finishing the prem in style.

at least we have a max of three weeks and we will know one way or another soon......

Re: Gareth Bale

A few big earners will leave as well though - Benny, Parker, Hudd, Ade, Bale ... that's about £300k+ wages.

In an ideal world, yes, but we've struggled to move deadwood before - look how we got on with moving out Bentley, Jenas, Gomes etc.

All I'm saying is that £80m-odd won't pay for 3 or 4 new players' fees and their wages over, say, 5 year deals.

It's all well and good saying let's get Lamela, Willian and Coentrao, but if they want £100k each, that's a total of £78m over years in wages alone.

Ok, we save on some of Parker, Hudd, BAE etc, but none of those have 5 years left on their deals, so we're stacking up the liability by splashing on yet more new players.

I still think there's better value, on and off the pitch, in keeping Bale.

Some dude on SC:

Bale had a scan at Cavells hospital on Tuesday this week ...this I know to be true, so would appear the injury is genuine

Re: Gareth Bale

Annoyingly, looks like I'll be owing a guy at work some cash. I bet with him that Bale would play against Crystal Palace, assuming that this would mean that he hadn't been sold to Palace. I made the bet shortly after the announcement of the fixtures. Now it looks like I'll lose because he's injured!! Typical!

Re: Gareth Bale

Hope Bale recovers as soon as possible, not just for the bet, but for his sake and that of our club. I think he will be unstoppable this season, if his head is in the right place. What we saw last season will be a step on the uphill climb of Bale's career. We hadn't seen anything, from him, like what we saw in the second half of the season and we'll see even more special times with him this coming season.

I think you were always safe to assume Bale wouldn't be sold to Palace!

Re: Gareth Bale

He won't refuse to play for us once the transfer window slams shut. He may not play in a Spurs shirt before then though. And to make this clear to those trying to make excuses for him, that would be HIS decision no one else's.

If he's fit then he plays, simple as that. Nasri managed to play before scum sold him.

I don't get this. Could he not have been injured last weekend and fit enough to be on the pitch for a while today?

I can't name any specific examples, but I think footballers have recovered from injuries before.
