Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Speaking of nasri, I wouldn't mind getting him in if Gazzy B goes

Sign him up and stick him in a booth outside WHL where passers by can pay £100 to smack him over the head with one of those inflatable mallet things.

Would be like printing money. Could probably sign Messi a year from now.

@DramaAtTheLane 23m

Bale was in Enfield petrol station, sounds as if he was on his way to the game, in a grey track suit. #THFC #COYS

Re: Gareth Bale

Why be against nasri? He'd get under their skin at the very least. Morals have gone out of the game and he is actually a good player!

Re: Gareth Bale

Why do people think our wages bill has gone up a lot.

I'd suggest that the two main signings are both on around 60k each. With Bentley and Gallas gone those wages would cover our two big signings easily. I'd be surprised if Chadli is on more than 40k, whilst Capoue would be given similar to Chadli. Our wages have not greatly increased.

Also players such as Lamela and Pranjic are still on there first contracts whereby they are probably on something like 35-40k. Hence the recent news of redoing Lamela's contract.

Re: Gareth Bale

Nasri had a purple patch of about 10 games and hasn't done a lot since. He's on something ridiculous like £170k a week and he's a snide little weasel.

Re: Gareth Bale

Nasri how about fucccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccck offfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

I think the feeling is (certainly mine) that if we're to bring in these 3 or 4 top class replacements for Bale, the the Bale fee won't actually go very far when you include the the player fees and the wages over 5 year contracts.

Some are saying lets get all these in and stick some money into the stadium to boot when I don't believe there'll be much change from any Bale sale if we bring in 3 to replace him.

Which leads me to think that there's better value in terms of football and business in keeping Bale.

Re: Gareth Bale

I think we could get Lamela and Pranjic on 60 - 70k. If Adebayor and Siggi were to leave our wages would have gone down. :)

Re: Gareth Bale

Bale won't play tomorrow because he's injured but he'll recover by Wednesday to play for Wales, at which point his injury will play up again after the full time whistle and he'll miss the Palace game?

If Bale is injured, surely the club can stop him playing for Wales. I recall last season he played for them twice in a week when not fully fit and came back to us knackered. Not again please!

But the thing is, we would still have other money within a wage budget because we would still be the same business, generating money and able to sustain it, particularly with the new tv deal.

It's not as if when factoring in Bale's replacement that we need to include their wages in the transfer fee received. Maybe the extra that we wouldn't have normally been able to sustain sure, but that's a couple of million here and there, not another 50.

Re: Gareth Bale

GHod I am looking forward to this game. For the first time this pre season my rest days gel with a live game. First glimpse of Soldado/Chadli & Paulinho is exciting but will be tempered by the uncertainty regarding Bale. Even if he is injured, I expect to see him cheering on the team. I have a sickening feeling he won't be there though and that is my gripe. Berbatov and Modric let us down badly. BUT they had the courage of their convictions and made it clearly known what they wanted. I really had a soft spot for Bale, thinking he was different, he was our special player, our Le Tissier. If he is sitting back, avoiding the heat, avoiding losing out on the bonuses he would lose should he dare to submit a transfer request, then he is less of a person than those two previously named.

As has been said, any bonus he'd get for not handing in a transfer request would be be sweet fudge all compared to what he'd get at Madrid. At madrid he'd probably get a few million for signing for them anyway, he'd probably get around £100,000 a week, extra sponsorship money... if he really wanted to put in a transfer request he wouldn't miss the loyalty bonus at all.

He obviously doesn't want to ruin his relationship with the club or us Tottenham fans. If anything it ahows he's more of a person than Modric and Berbatov. He's privately tinkled off he can't leave but he clearly still cares enough about the club to want to keep a good relationship with it. Modric and Berbatov on the other hand coukdn't give a toss what we think of them, which is why they were so strong in their pursuit to leave.

And yet people still pine for them to come back.

well, they were excellant players. Its a shame people are so spoilt in this day and age!

In the 1960s players were only on a hundred quid a week...and they were the best players!

Players were more down to earth and did not have their heads up in the clouds on how
to earn millions........................................................................................................

If you can make ends meet and you have your health.....you are rich..................................

Sorry but I disagree. It may not mean anything in monetary terms i agree, but it is the intent of what the player wants and how they express it. bale is only holding back on not going public to protect his image/commercial interests. He wants to remain being seen as the clean cut/blue eyed boy/butter wouldn't mealt in his mouth/please fudge my daughter type. He is money driven as indicated by his 'hearts' copyright/intellectual protection. He is no innocent!!
