I think if the fan base can see what the manager is trying to do, many of us will give the manager time. Can't speak for all of course. On a personal level I wanted more time for Poch and Nuno. I liked Jose but could see it was not working (but wanted him to manage the cup final). I thought from the time of their appointment that AVB and Conte were wrong, for different reasons. As for Ange I liked him initially and hoped he would tweak his system to make us less open. Once he failed to do that, I realized that he wasn't going to work.
We were in a bad state when Conte left us and we are in a much better state player wise now. But that's been down to the recruitment team. Not sure how much Ange contributed to it but I'll give him the benefit on that. On the pitch though, we've been as bad as during Conte's second season. And the manager appears unwilling or incapable of changing it. In those circumstances , time was not going to change that.
When I think back, we treated Jol shabbily, Poch shabbily given what he achieved, the less said about Nuno's treatment the better but weirdly Ange has been allowed to carry on taking us in downward trajectory for far too long.
There's loads of reasons for why we currently are where we are, I don't think it's all on one person, whether that is levy, Ange or munn. They all carry some of the responsibility, between now and the start of the new season someone has to make some big decisions and big deals.
Munn and Lange are being used as villains in the piece because people love to do itThis is what it's really all about. There is no way Levy is going anywhere. In my opinion, there is no way Munn should go anywhere either so early in his tenure.
I think most fans are logical about what is going on. They see all the different variables with Ange. That big decision is whether the club are going to continue being the nice guys with the manager. Are the mitigating factors compelling enough to keep him in situ?
Munn & Lange sound like they should be characters from the tv series Fargo, which is based around a place that exerts a seemingly magnetic attraction on bizarre events, where the protagonists are dragged into various absurd situations characterised by deception and intrigue with more than a hint of the macabre.Munn and Lange are being used as villains in the piece because people love to do it
It’s a fantastic show. Can’t wait to see what Hawley - the showrunner - does with the Alien franchise in a similar format.Munn & Lange sound like they should be characters from the tv series Fargo, which is based around a place that exerts a seemingly magnetic attraction on bizarre events, where the protagonists are dragged into various absurd situations characterised by deception and intrigue with more than a hint of the macabre.
Meanwhile back at Tott…. hang on?

Edit because I got them in the wrong order.

We’ve been a project or having a transitional seasons for more than 30 years, I can see why fans are starting to lose patience. In fact I think we’ve been every patient indeedI think you answer your question there.
We could not find our attract a suitable replacement.
Rightly or wrongly we are not renowned for giving managers time, with the clear out and rebuild needed the loss of Harry kane and the general air of unrest around the club after the debacle of the last few years was there an obvious choice that we were confident we could not only appoint but that the fans would be happy with?
Hence ange and the DNA press.
League position this year is what I would have expected last season tbh, and last seasons league finish would been seen as progress this season.
Top 8 in the league,
EL knock out stage,
semi final of LC, knocked out by Liverpool,
Knocked out FA Cup by villa,
Beat utd and city in the cups.
For a club and squad in the state we were in when ange joined that would not be a bad season for the second season. Hasn't turned out that way in the league obviously.
I really think it is under appreciated how bad a state we were in.
There is no magic answer out there for us, just as there isn't for villa or Saudi Sportswashing Machine. It's one reason that I'm wary of the rush for a new manager, the expectations are already too high.
All we need is, insert manager du jour here, someone to player x formation or y tactics, play wingers, play the youth.
Well no, it's not that simple, it never has been.
Looks like we need a new manager, but the fans need to be willing to acknowledge where we are and accept some more growing pains along the way.
Not convinced our fanbase has that patience.
How are they being painted as villians?
Levy - Effectively all Tottenham
Munn - All football operations
Lange - Technical director/Recruitment
Current situation
- Team results are awful, worse in 17 years
- Ange looks like the wrong hire
- Injuries are at unacceptable level
- January window was decent but too late
So if I look at what is broken
- Those all sit within some frame of Munn or Lange's responsibility
- The lack of action by those two, now become a Levy issue
When I talk about it I don't just talk about whats said on here, I must keep mentioning that to be clearer.
I think Lange has done well in the time he has been here, has been decisive in market and is clearly working with transfers with a committee of decision makers to consider aka How much we have and who the Manager signs off. I think in general in the last year our works been good in market whilst I think we now need to add more quality in summer.
Munn has been here a year and half, I think its too small a sample to work out success or failure in that role,
You are allowed to make mistakes, you get judged on how quickly you understand the mistake and how quickly you correct
- Right now Ange looks like a mistake
- One of three things is happening, 1/Munn doesn't think it's a mistake, in which case he will/should be judged, 2/There is some timeline this season we aren't aware of (a points total, out of Europe, interim identified), 3/We have a confirmed/well developed replacement being lined up for end of season and we just gave up on season.
- Outside of winning the Europa, we are going to lose out on European competition next season (has commercial, brand and player impact)
Honestly, I can't see how Munn's role isn't having very painful discussions with the board in general (I've lived those worlds)
Meanwhile, back at the training ground
