Coronavirus

I'm not sure what they've discovered here, beyond how the immune system has always behaved and operated?
More of the same as a (positive) reaction to the scaremongering around waning antibody stories earlier in the year.

I get that journos need to sell stories, but this whole crisis has been a story of viruses and immune systems working as they have done for millennia.

My question in this is what is actually really due to change after the 21st?
We will still be told to wear masks
Places will still operate with social distancing of some sort but not under some threat of closure
I guess venues can have bigger capacities
But anything else I’ve missed?

Ammended sport rules will cease and go back to normal.
Works for me!

Yea. Ignore the bossy bedwetter bastards, and let’s go f***ing mental.

Zero deaths for the first time since the pandemic started but let's delay full freedom for a variant that is causing not even 2k cases a day !!
Absolutely outrageous if the 21st doesn't happen

Erm 3165 a day according to that graphic.

But most of them will be mild caes as they will either be young or vaccinated. You'll have some that refused the vaccine or could not have it that will get more severe symptoms though.
I think we will open further on the 21st. It's summer, people will have more vit d in them, be out in the fresh air more so will be exposed to less viral load. Now is the best time to be open. Rather than suppressing it to only pop up again in winter.

Not every case is the Indian variant though, I read earlier it was around 2k a day

Yeah but you can return now if your company has a plan which they will need even after the 21st

I thought the whole point is that all restrictions end on 21st so should be able to do what you like without a plan? Can't wait to get back to the office, supposedly we're not opening til August. 20 months of homeworking by then for me.

SERRANA, Brazil (AP) — Just one COVID-19 patient is in critical condition at the Dr. Geraldo Cesar Reis clinic in Serrana, a city of almost 46,000 in Sao Paulo state’s countryside. The 63-year-old woman rejected the vaccine that was offered to every adult resident of Serrana as part of a trial.

Doctors say the woman was awaiting one of Pfizer’s shots, which remain scarce in Brazil. But she is an outlier here. Most adults rolled up their sleeves when offered the vaccine made by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, and the experiment has transformed the community into an oasis of near normalcy in a country where many communities continue to suffer.

No countries added to the Green list for another month
Absolutely laughable that
Why not just totally ban overseas travel
Literally no reason at all why we should not be able to go to say a greek island which has no cases, you're having to have 3 tests to go to and everybody on the island has been vaccinated
What about us living with COVID ??
75% of all Brits have been vaccinated, what was the fudging point

If they put back 21st June there will be civil unrest in this country and everybody will simply say fudge off

non-figuratively no reason at all why we should not be able to go to say a greek island which has no cases, you're having to have 3 tests to go to and everybody on the island has been vaccinated

I’m for the opening up on 21st June but I do think booking a holiday is a bit unwise and premature at this stage. If they closed our borders for the rest of the year but allowed everything else to open up; restaurants, theatres, sporting events etc at full capacity but we can’t go abroad then I’d be support that tbh. As long as I can do everything I want to do in this country with no restrictions then travel can wait for a bit. And I say this as an avid traveller, I’m desperate to go abroad but we should have closed the borders months ago to stop variants coming in.
