Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Here's a thought;

Aren't AVB and Harry BOTH allowed to be decent managers...? It's like fudging Swiss weather clocks! WHY does it always have to be one or the other?

why does bentley always wear the gay shorts?

and sigg looks all business

Sigg looks 'all James Beattie' and YOU KNOW IT!!!

...and as for Bentley's choice of 'lower-wear'... WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL..................

Spurs Nil!

BTW, I always thought Spurs Lodge sounded like ****ney Rhyming slang for Steve Hodge... but I guess it's just co-incidence!

T H I S !

Chill, people... BOTH Harry and AVB are amazing and crap - just depends on your vantage point. FACT!

Anyone know if/when Spurs plan to have a press conference to confirm AVB's arrival, or are we well past that now?

There's the kit launch on Thursday and some events at WHL on Saturday. Should see some appearances from the squad at least.

I think they were great performances myself, but thats just my pov. It was brilliant for me. Statistically we got smashed, but it was by design - and to see Arsenal invited into our half only to shoot from 40 yards was a delight - all their tika taka stuff was out the window, their invention lost and their spirit broken. Harry beat Wenger like a red headed step child in those early encounters, imo of course.

RE AVB - I think its very purposeful that he has been quiet. We announce him, and then the press cycle begins.

At first its "CHELSEA FLOP GIVEN LIFELINE BY SPURS!!" hyperbole, then its "AVB LINKED WITH...." until finally it becomes "CAN AVB SHOW HOW GOOD HE WAS AT PORTO?"

So had we jumped into a press conference immediately he would have put both feet into a cauldron of spittle and bile. Instead, by waiting (for the press to calm and for us to make some player moves) he goes into a press conference with a very different atmosphere.

The journalists are already softening a litte. He can be charming and try to "make friends" with a less hostile crowd. He can talk about Bale signing on, Caulkers potential, signing Sigurdsson from under Liverpools nose and bringing in a potentially class defender. And if he runs out of material on that lot he can be humble about learning from his Chelsea mistakes (they will love that) and even talk about how Under Armour apparel is going to help him analyse players fitness...

Its a comlpetely different situation than had he done it last week - dont you think?

Agree with everything you say. Listen, I enjoyed some great nights with Harry's management, absolutely, he did some wonderful things for us, but I'm still delighted we have moved on given the shortcomings of the last two seasons. Again, I agree with everything re: AVB. I simply think he's smarter.

I like this post.

I'm glad AVB is here and excited about the future, but I'm also thoroughly fudged off at the constant Redknapp bashing and snide drip-drip of derogatory and downright nasty comments and one-liners about him. Often it comes from the same people who claim he wasn't good enough for Spurs because Spurs is a club of dignity who always act on a higher ethical plane...just before they call the man who got us 4th twice a twitchy saggy-faced qunt. It's a fudging embarrassment now and people should leave it.

I am not sure WHO this is linked to. If you're referring to me, you owe me an apology. I have never EVER referred to his tics or any of that. If you want to call a discussion of tactical awareness 'downright nasty' then I think you're overcooking the egg. again, IF you're suggesting I personally insulted the man, you are very very far off base my friend.

i wouldnt be as ticked off with the smearing if i felt the new guy would get the same treatment. AVB had an overall miserable time at chelsea but trust people that wanted harry gone to sweep EVERYTHING he has done under the carpet and praise him for his tactical nous (laughing my head off in silence actually at the irony of that latter comment considering his time at chelsea vs the idiot in charge of the less talented squad that guided his team to 4th)

i've officially had enough of this . its gorilla warfare for me from now on in this AVB is the greatest versus the village Quasimodo that is supposedly harry redknapp...the poor tactician with no plan B that accidentally stumbled unto 4th TWICE when he wasnt looking ..., just sly digs and finger pointing. naturally when AVB gets to 3rd or 2nd in the league i'll be kept quiet. looking forward to great games and LOOOOOAADS of wins with great tactics. Much like that lucky no mark Harry redknapp

I'm done with this thing in open debate , its literally a waste of my time

African...

First of all, you have chosen to selectively edit positive comments I made about him in the last couple of months. So be it. If the shoe fits and all that...secondly, I had written an enormous response to your long response to my initial comment. It was detailed, supportive, etc...I just signed back in and somehow, it has disappeared!!! Maybe I pressed the wrong button (literally not figuratively as it appears the initial comment did) but it's gone. Disappeared. Poof! Into thin air!

I was going to try and re-construct, but you know what? It's a sign isn't it! A sign that this is all "past" so I'll leave it alone...the one thing I would say is that your anger was thoroughly, thoroughly misplaced IMHO. I've not known you as someone who gets so angry in discussion. I'm sad that a discussion about things which I think are genuinely interesting can be so heavily polarizing and "personal", not just with you, but Chancer and others with whom I tend to enjoy discussions and debates.

Anyway, I guess he's officially a "verboten" topic now. Probably the right thing as we're moving forward.
