Will Lankshear

Sheffield United have bid £7m for Leicester striker Tom Cannon (currently on loan at Stoke). They also have Tyrese Campbell, Kieffer Moore and Rhian Brewster already at the club. Lankshear is better off moving to a club where he has a chance of starting.
Maybe Cannon is their plan b, after we got flakey after missing out on Muani?

I think he's good enough to mix it in that company. United tend to trust their loanees - McAtee ran the show for them for a couple of seasons.

Think it is pretty clear that Cannon is their plan A.

I know you like Sheffield United so would be happy them adding cover to their squad but as Spurs fans we should want our young players to be getting starts not just at clubs in case of an injury pile up. Personally I think a league 1 move would be best for Lankshear right now.

Playing him as a CF in one game against non-league opposition is far from justifying taking him on loan.
The number of games he has played in the PL will be the justification for that.
We needed to win that match, Lankshear should have been it.

(Oh look, Werner is injured now. )

I like what I’ve seen of Lankshear, which admittedly is pretty limited and it would have been good to see him get more opportunities. Having said that, I watched him against Ferencvaros and Galatasary and whilst he scored in the latter and almost scored in the former, I thought he got bullied a bit too easily by the opposing CBs. He seems like a strong lad but bloody Davinson Sanchez was all over him at times. Obviously that’s something he’ll learn to deal with through experience but getting that experience elsewhere might be more beneficial for him and us in the long run.
Not sure I want to be throwing him into the lion’s den right now.

That might be true about getting bullied...but was it any more than how Son gets bullied these days?
Crazy he didn't get more minutes in EL and certainly in games like vs Soton and most especially Tamworth.

Than again, maybe he's actually quite crap and Ange knows it's best to keep the image of him being good so a home-grown club asset doesn't depreciate too much...

Son would have to make contact with a player to get bullied
He stays so afraid way from any contact now so he doesn’t get hurt

Scarlett came back because he couldnt get in the Oxford side and needs to go lower down the pyramid. Lankshear is leagues above him

That is a totally unproven theory actually. What would Scarlett or Veliz done playing as a 9 in that fantastic Spurs U21 side? It's wasn't the toughest gig for Lanks. He still has it all to prove in my opinion.

Yes, he still has lots of adapting to do in men's football. His off the ball work is not close to being good enough, his hold up play is also quite a way from being there. He can bully youth players and that has allowed him to get goals at youth level but he cannot yet get anywhere near bullying men. I think he needs 18 to 30 months of lower league football before he'd be close to being ready for PL football.

He's really not. If anything Scarlett is probably ahead of where Lankshear is right now. He has better movement off the ball than Lankshear, also uses his body better than Lankshear does at the moment.

But would you stick with son knowing he avoids all of these things
That’s the issue
Lankshear may have gaps in his profile but he will still do the leg work which is necessary
He ain’t Solanke but he isn’t scared

Honestly?.... I think he would be less effective than Son (and Son is anything but effective)

If Solanke is going to be out for a while then we need to pray that Richarlison stays fit (which we know from past experience is unlikely to happen) or to sign another centre forward that wouldn't need time to adapt to the PL.

I’m fine with Richy playing but we need to even save him
I can’t believe a kid who at least is mobile can be any worse than a player who can’t run and when he does it’s away from opposition centre backs
