Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Which IF people take that line means there have to be question as to why he was hired and why he was given such overwhelming support from within the upper mgmt circles?
Old boys club, they got one of their own in on a punt and now have to double down

It's not an old boys club only scott new Ange.
If you were talking the coaches that Ange bought in I could understand that logic. I personally would have found the best coaches available instead of 3 Aussies that have only coached in Oz but that's what Ange wanted. Most mangers choose there backroom staff.

There are certain results which you can pin point the beginning of the end, last night was it. Im not convinced he can come back from this. We cant just keep getting rid of managers, they need to be given the time to see something through and we have the injury situation. However, recebt results are unacceptable. If we dont have the players available we need to alter tactics and team selection accordingly imo, you cant keep playing the same way. The team out last night (and in recent weeks) was 5/10 ability wise so the result wasnt a shock.

Give Spurs space in behind and we will do ok against you. The only teams not to figure this out are City and Utd. We are so easy to play against.

I thought that Postecoglou wanted to bring John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan with him to Tottenham

More the performance than the result last night, no shape, no discernable game plan, basic errors and sloppy play all over the pitch (which I've commented on before being a symptom of players not being comfortable in what they are being asked to do)

Results wise we have put ourselves in a position where any dropped points are magnified due to the Palace/Ipswich/Fulham results - 7-9 points from those matches and results like last night would be taken in our stride.

Indeed, it was actually a little alarming. We can attribute fatigue, etc, but there is undeniable truth to the fact that there appears a growing discomfort within the group.

We have a squad better than many teams in the prem, and not as strong as others … this fatigue thing is down to Ange rotating using the wrong options and playing disjointed teams thrown in together. All teams will have fatigue issues but it doesn’t help when the manager wants to play this certain way.

When i say result i mean performance, win lose our draw is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme but how you got there, to which I agree with you, is the most important. An 18 months and they simply isn't enough of a game plan or his philosophy evidence on the pitch. After this time you could excuse results if you could see what was going on on the pitch, unfortunately I can't. The pressing has dropped off a cliff, as has the energy and intensity, we are no longer on the front foot, and we neither attack nor defend. The ball has stopped going forward and has reverted back to go inside to side, there is no running off the ball, there is no breaking through the lines, and there is no playing into space be in the channels granted some of this may be because teams have worked out how to play against us but they're in lies the problem if Ange is steadfast on only one way and one way only and teams work this out then I fear he's done.

Have said it for some time, our squad quality really isn't all that and a lot are holding out for potential of players rather than what the quality is right now.

Our forwards are poor, I like Solankes all round game and although he hasn't bought us goals yet the rest of the forward line and midfield are hardly creating for him. Johnson produces decent numbers, but all round game needs to improve and hopefully will. The rest? Either on the decline, injury prone, not good enough or have 'potential'.

Our CMs are average - all good at something, but all round nothing special. There is a massive hole in our CM where we don't have a midfield general who can boss things, or a true playmaker. We've never come close to replacing Dembele or Modric.

And our defenders have never been great, can blame Anges system as much as you want but as an example Romero was still as rash before Ange was here as he is now, Porro wasn't good defensively before Ange etc.

A lot on here tend to overrate players based on their early performances, when they are new to the league and an unknown quantity. Then a few months later people wonder why they aren't performing to their original levels when they have just been worked out by the opposition. For balance of argument I will say I like our recruitment in that we are buying a lot of on the face of it potentially very good young players, but I am talking about the quality of the squad as it stands now it really isn't all that and need to balance the young potentials with some real quality.....

Fully agreed. Though a large part of that imo is fatigue and backups not being close eno to the starters in quality and fit for the system. We were alright from the start of both halves I thought, but when we went behind (first half) and couldn't get a goal (second half) we mostly just fell apart.

It's probably a very different game if we score first, but the falling apart thing can't be excused by that.

Fully agreed too on earlier results (and performances) making the current situation so much worse. Think that's impacting the players too. And Ange, don't know if it's impacting his decision making, but he looked more frustrated last night, more desperate.
