Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

ange is simply not experienced enough for epl and europa
part of his weakness is that he doesn't have his own coaches so will take time to get them right , if they are right in the first place.
unfortunately its his second year, so no excuses. he needs to lift the perfomance above average and keep it there or his job will be on the line.

As I said in the match thread. People will say the tactics are fine and it's the players. But when it was Conte and Jose it was the tactics at fault. Different rules based on if the manager is liked or not.

If he gets sacked he's an idiot. He could easily save his job by being a bit more adaptable and respecting the opposition more instead of building his tactics in an isolated bubble.

we've got injuries now, but we've been defending like hedgehogs all season, play 5 at the back and fudging tighten it up for a few weeks

basics

Also get in some fudging coaches that know you, your tactics and how you want things done.

How can you build a playing team and coaching team at the same time. It's not as if he interacts with the team during the game, just stands there wondering if Alf Ramsey is back yet

I don't even want him fired I just want the fans who for some reason can't acknowledge reality to get the heads out from the ground and realise that no, it's not all going swimmingly and to plan.

Sacking Ange would be stupid. We need to learn from sacking a bunch of good managers previously, especially since history tells us we’ll lurch to somebody with a completely different philosophy who wants to sign a whole new team of players. We’ve gone into the season 3 senior players short. It is showing after Europa games.

I agree with the logic, but he's nowhere near the level of our previous three.

He was a punt, was always a long shot, he's nearly 60 and had never managed in a proper league before.

100%
But I think he really needs to look at who his chosen leadership group is now

The question is if he is a good enough manager to warrant the faith. But I agree, I think sacking him just puts us back at square one. He isn't the main problem at the club, anyway.

For better or worse, he has to be given time, because there is no other choice.

1. No other manager worth his salt wants to manage this hodge-podge of mediocrity and ruin his reputation. We saw this when we began being turned down by manager after manager until ending up with some mediocre journeyman from Scotland.

2. ENIC's model simply will not allow for any manager to succeed here - I would hope we've learned this after 24 years of failure.

3. These players have cost £400m, and are the epitome of the club's 'high fee, minimal wage, potential over quality' approach. To sack them off and start over would cost money ENIC will not spend.

So, I suspect we'll need it just live with it and hope it gets better.

It is down to the director of football to get a coach that fits the players we have. Much like Brighton do.

It's incredible how we manage to be outnumbered everywhere on the pitch. They pack their own box, but still cut through us every time they attack.
Coaching to play us all week
We got back Friday
Seen it before
The bigger issue is it’s the 5th time ok the trot we have lost before an international break vs a side we should (in theory beat)
That’s a player mentality issue and arguably they are not fully engaged on these games
Then add in the leadership group being full of people who are weak too and it’s a bad mix

Considering how 'inexperienced' the bloke is, and that this level is just too much for him his win percentage is 52%, that's better than the likes of Mourinho, Redknapp and pretty much any other Spurs manager with the exception of Conte, Poch and AVB.

It tends to be either win or lose. Not many points picked up through draws.

Edit: Just checked and I think it’s 22 points from our last 18 league games. 11 defeats. That win percentage is perhaps given a favourable gloss by our start to last season…which feels a long time ago now.

Further edit: 51 points from the last 38 games. Mid-table level of performance.
Nuno: 15 points from 10 games before his sacking.
Ange: 16 points from the last 11.

The problem is that every time that he says he needs to fix it, the power of that statement is lessened. There was no excuse to lose today. None. I back him but how can we be so attacking, how can we be up there in the attacking statistics in the league and yet play as clueless in attack as we did for most of today. I’m honestly sitting with splinters as I have no idea whether he should stay or if he should go. I want to back him. I do see a lot of good. But today and the Palace result happen and make me seriously question whether I should back him.

I’m not Ange out yet but there are big questions that need to be answered.
