Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

Martinez is a top young manager, but he has no chance at Liverpool. The club is being run chaotically and the fans are too stuck in the past

FSG would never have gone for him were it not for Wigan's amazing run at the end of the season gone.....they have gone for the flavour of the month, oh and if Randy at Villa wants him, then we must get in their too. Wow, and Liverpool fans thought they had it bad under Gillette and Hicks

Exactly, the real skill is in spotting which managers are "no name" and which are "the real deal, just havent made their mark yet"

My point was in the recent past, risk is too high, honestly Pool's next manager is potentially a 150M risk (sell half that dross, invest another 80-100M over a couple of years, CL permutations and possible costs if fired)

Would you risk 150M on maybe Martinez is the real deal?

I wouldn't

liverpool have said they intend to approach a number of candidates....this is just comedy gold

fudge sakes - gutted if they appoint Martinez - think he's destined for big things

wonder if MK 57 is lurking ??

I wouldn't

If I believed he was the real deal then I wouldnt see it as a maybe would I?

If I had assessed him over time, decided he had the skills to mould a team into my desires, then spoken to him, got a feel for his understanding and commitment to the job, then yes - I would.

As a few have said Martinez may be the real deal but this appointment is the wrong one for him and for Liverpool. He's destined to fail at the club now unfortunately. Somewhere like Villa would be a natural progression for Martinez and then maybe progress to a bigger club. If Martinez has sense he'll let someone else be the lightning rod for the post Kenny vitriol.

Capello is the man to steady things if you ask me. His personality and CV is big enough to handle a club of the size of Liverpool. I'm sure he is on the short list too.

Agree with all of that. Any manager taking the Liverpool will be out by Christmas if they do not hit the ground running.

I'm somewhat in disagreement that Pool is a poisoned chalice at this moment. I suspect the fans' disgust at KD's sacking is actually quite shallow and I think they'll get over it pretty quickly. The only thing that will matter is if the new man can do the business.

They are foolish though to be so dismissive of Martinez. He's clearly a most interesting prospect - I've said before that he reminds me of Jose in many ways. The only question should be whether it's too early for him. Personally, I don't think so. 250 league games as manger at two clubs he'll be leaving in good shape. He'd have been my very clear choice if Harry had gone, and I'm a bit jealous of Pool because I think Roberto is destined for great things.

You don't know much about Pool at it's fans in general I assume? get over something?

And actually I think Martinez would do better with us than with Pool

I think that anyone would. We are in a better position than them and have a better squad. The only advantage they have over us is that they will pay higher wages and have spent more in the transfer market. Whether there is any money left for the new manager is another matter.

I was thinking more on the basis that we would be more sympathetic to his playing ideals, and more supportive of early rocky results (with the playing style being accepted)

Liverpool will be unreasonable from the get go

I don't think that we would tolerate early poor results. If Martinez took over from Redknapp this summer and had a poor start, we'd roast him
