U23s, Academy and Loanees

Just read that Moore got 3 goals and 4 assists in 10 games for the under 18s last year

Given we seem to have a good group at under 17 and under 18 level, quite a good time to appoint a manager who seems to value youth players

I think clearing out the underperforming U21s in combination with the last knockings of the Poch era team (sans Sonny and Kane) and Hitchens last signings from the first team squad is a big moment/opportunity to reset. The u17s/18s look decent and our recent signings for the first team much better (the jury still out on some, but I won't judge them via Contes final season). Try and well and truly put that era in the rear view mirror.

So we feel like we're growing.

Agreed, and probably also helped by not being in Europe this season, meaning we can run with a smaller squad.

Then in another years' time we might have a better view of which of the under 17s and under 18s who had the success this season, as well as some of the older ones like Scarlett, Parrott, Dorrington, Devine etc, might make it and could potentially take squad places the year after.

Would be great if, for example, Devine could have a good year on loan and come back into the squad thereby sending a signal to younger ones that it is possible to bridge from youth taem to first team squad at Spurs. Man U, Man C, Liverpool, Arse all give academy players an opportunity, so hopefully we can too

So this lad at 15 has already won more with Spurs and England than Harry Kane has in an 8/9 year career?

Fingers crossed.

I agree. I understand both sides of the argument for being in or out of Europe, but on balance I think this season its going to be more helpful being out of Europe. As you say, we can run a smaller first team squad (as it may take more than one window to filter players mainly out) and the best of the 17/18s will be finding their feet playing a great deal of U21S games.

If we can then qualify for Europe next season, we'll be in a better place to allocate those extra games throughout the first team and hopefully some of our youngsters.

The hope being we can have a strong foundation of young talent all the way from more established youngsters like Deki down to U17s .

Deki, Sarr, Gil, Spence, Udogie, Skipp, Porro, Scarlett, parrot, devine, donley, Dorrington, Soonsup-Bell, Lankshear, Cesay.

Agreed (though I believe Cesay was on the release list last week)

There's also the other signings which we've made since Xmas (the Emirates Marketing Project forward and Ipswich defender plus there was a Scottish player who we were meant to be close to signing) though I think they're in the Olusesi/Moore age bracket

I was thinking that Moore and Olusesi at 15 and 16 had a looooot of work to do over several years and several loans to try and make it into our first team... likewise Devine at 17... but then I remembered Barca.

They gave debuts to Pedri, Fati and Gavi at 16 and 17 so IF they truly are good enough, these players could definitely make a breakthrough quite soon. IF IF IF.

Agreed. Moore and Olusesi will be 17 at the start of the 2024/5 season, but there's also others like Devine as you say who would be expected to come sooner

Emirates Marketing Project brought through Foden, Cole Palmer, Rice Lewis etc. Arse, liverpool, Man U have all brought through players

I'd like to think we clear out a lot of dross and take more of a chance on some, like Devine

So what's happening with our loanees? None of their clubs want them/want them back on loan? A brick season was had by all?

"A special media"? He's not even proof read his departure tweet

Probably been accidentally drinking spiked punch like when he was caught drink driving despite not boozing for religious reasons.

The above is a slightly cheap shot at a ludicrous situation better off forgotten but a shame to see him leaving. You never really know how good coaches are other than the odd comment from youth players but he was an incredible player. Hopefully was able to impart some wisdom to the youngsters whilst he was with us. Hope the move goes well for Yaya.
