Why would any of those clubs pay those fees?

You've missed the biggest oddity: Darwin Nunez to Al Hilal for £56.6m.

Richarlison looks like a bargain.

Neither are good enough . Richo is just a spoiler who likes falling over. Solanke is a hardworking journeyman, a squad player.
Solanke is a good player. Has a good all round game. He’s no Harry Kane but we won’t have another Harry Kane at Spurs in our lifetimes.

Isak, Gyokeres, Watkins and perhaps Sesko are better than him but I can’t think of any other CFs in the PL who are better than him.

If we do have the money for another Centre forward (I don’t think we do) then Porto’s Samu Aghehowa would be my choice. He is only 21 and still very raw but has the attributes to do well in the PL. suspect he’d cost close to £60m though.

You think he's better than Haaland? Wow!!

I thought Solanke was our best player in the 1st half of last season (just ahead of Kulu) and when he got injured our attacking play fell off a cliff as we had no focal point. He scored a decent amount of goals despite having very little created for him. Admittedly when he returned after his injury he looked sluggish and wasn't as effective.

We don't need Solanke scoring from 20+ yards.
We need to create chances for him in the 18 yard box. Something we haven't really done for him yet.

I also think we are waiting on Maddison to get his scan to see what the plan is in the market.
Could be the difference between getting someone in who is ready now, or someone younger who will take the role on longer term.

I think Ange's setup made Solanke our version of Firminho with the goals more likely to come from Son and Johnson like they did at Pool with Mane and Salah. At Bournemouth the system was setup so Solanke got the goals. In both systems, I believe Solanke did really well.

Frank seems to find systems where the number 9 can be the highest scorer. I think we'll see more goals this season from him.

Think we'll look very different in attack this season. May be focusing more on counter attacks and turnovers at first (going by preseason and the injury to Maddison probably setting us back).

Assuming we get to a more ambitious attacking style that I think Frank will want we'll also look rather different. The biggest difference probably being that we'll see wide attackers coming inside into scoring positions more. Solanke as that focal point with a good all round game should fit well into that. I also think that should suit Kudus, Johnson, Kulusevski, Tel and Odobert rather well in those wide positions.
