Transfer thread

It's hard to tell as you can't push a button like FM to shift a player. Our outgoing potential is anything from £40m to £120m. Obviously finishing 4th would make a difference on the upside as well.

£40m is a fair guess at what we can throw into the pot before sales. Possibly an extra £20m if we make CL. This is above and beyond our current commitments.

Net doesn't include sales. It's the amount you spend above sales.

We should be able to raise £50 to £150m from sales.

Lo Celco, Ndombele seem certain to go.

Maybe Gill, Winks, Sanchez, Rondon too if anyone is interested. They are all relatively young players with international caps.

I don’t see Madrid coming back for Reggie. But all our FBs could be sold for the right price. Hopefully Kane stays but that is tbc as well and could add huge sums to the kitty.

What must be difficult for Paratici is trying to prepare for the summer when then sums we could have to spend are so unknown and such a huge range.

More realistically, and optimistically, let’s say we achieve CL and Kane signs a 1 year extension (keeping him here 2 more years). We sell Lo Celco for £30m but only get 10m up front. We sell Ndombele for £15-20m paid over a long term but get him off the wage bill. We get 15m for Sanchez but with clauses to make more down the line on performances. We get £10m for Rondon. Winks might raise 17m?

Not all these sales will likely come off, so let’s say we raise around 70m in credit down the line and reduce the wage bill. Add maybe 30-50m from revenue and it’s not impossible to see us spending 100m.

Wonder if Conte wants an AMC, to have the option to go 3-4-1-2. I think that might be a good alternative for us and there are free players în the summer for that 1, în 3-4-1-2. Eriksen and Dybala play that position and it would great if we had them. Kulusevski could play RWB în that formation and with a great LCB like Bastoni, we would look pretty badass.

I don't think so now. I think if we got Dybala he'd just replace Moura but we'd rotate the front 3 a bit more than we do currently, esp as he could pretty much do any of the front 3 roles.

Do we really think Dybala is coming to Spurs? even if we make CL, seems like a much easier life for him to just go to Inter and give Juve a bit of needle on the way out.

Three of his pals are here already and he seems to like socialising in London.

If we are going to get one older/bigger wage free transfer, he's the one I think we'll likely go for and get

The are always pictures of him knocking about in London. Does he take a picture at Tower Bridge on every visit?

Been to Berlin 6 times (we have friends there) don't take pictures in front of Tourist attractions after the first visit.

I take it you didn’t notice the £250m deterioration in the cash/debt aligned to the club over those couple of years?

Considering that we already have Romero signing this summer for £40m odd, spending even as much as another £40m net would be quite surprising.

If we happen to qualify for the CL then, yes, I think we will spend a bit more. If we don’t then I just can’t see it, the club funds don’t really support it. An effective £80m net spend would likely be easily in the top 6 for spending in the PL. I do wonder though whether the DoF is recommending a Kane sale to provide a real warchest to complete our rebuild?
If Paratici is recommending to sell one of the best attacking players in the league (and arguably the world), who's absolutely integral to the way we play, well, I think he needs his head examined. That's assuming (1) that Conte stays, and (2) that Kane is happy here (which may depend on #1).

I think we're still feeding on the scraps -- even with CL football, we cannot compete with ManU, Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project, PSG, etc. in terms of transfer fees or wages. Kulu and Bentancur are both clever second-tier buys that have worked out. Not all will, but that's the space we're working in. CL qualification would help us to stay "best of the rest", of course.

As others in the thread have said, we need to get whatever we can from the players currently outside our first 14. £25M for GLC may well be possible, while £10M for Ndombele plus hefty sell-on clauses, £15M for Winks, and £10M for Rodon don't seem ridiculous. Add £40M and that's enough to cover Kulu and Bentancur plus two decent players. Hopefully. Add in a "friendly free" from Bale / Dybala / Eriksen, and that's looking like a good window.

I think that there is zero chance and with his injury record and wage demands, we shouldn't go anywhere near him.

The MCL is an impact injury/the same as Doherty has just got, so that's not a worry.

But the rest being muscular ones is a bit of a concern. Either Juve have a crap conditioning setup (unlikely, but possible), or yes - he could be a bit fragile

Ccv will also bring in £6m. Maybe a couple of mil for jack clarke. Then depending on who's coming in emerson and moura maybe sold.

The only time a young, well-conditioned athlete like Dybala should have muscle fatigue is after a honeymoon.

Ready for most obvious post of the week?

Buying is a lot easier than selling

It is not going to be easy to shift the many players we wouldn’t mind selling. On the up side we have a lot of players to cash in, so plenty of variety  and to be honest we do have some decent deadwood. If we do find takers it will raise significant funds.

The are players like Bergwijn and Gil who I think we could get money for. But Lo Celso and Sanchez who other clubs might fancy, will know we need to sell so we won't get much for.

No one will pay for Ndombele, he will go the way of Bentley. Lucas has a year left and says he wants to go back to Brazil after that year so the most we will get is a loan for him.

You can sell if you ask realistic prices!!

I think there would be takers for GLC, Royal/Doherty (whichever we chose to sell), Rodon, Lucas, Bergwijn/Gil (if we decide to sell them)....all would find homes at sensible prices

Ndombele is the one which is a challenge, just like Dele was. And to shift Dele we had to do a deal which would ahve been unthinkable a couple years before
