Transfer speculation

I think it best to look at our two system's (3421 and 4231) and pick out where we lack cover/need an upgrade.
I think we need;

1) An attacking player who can offer a threat from both wide and centrally, primarily focussed with scoring goals.
2) Someone to compete with Eriksen.
3) A left wingback.
4) A replacement for Wimmer should he be sold.

If Poch trust's CCV and Davies to cover for the sale of Wimmer then we will be set, although a LWB would be imo needed.
If Poch rates Edwards we may not see anyone else bought for the midfield. He looks like a player who has a bit of everything to his game and could cover all of our first choice 3 (@Yoof what do you reckon). Personally I'd sell Sissoko, Lamela (1 year left on contract) and GKN, promote Edwards and buy someone who can compete with the player Edwards is least like.

For LWB I like Theo Hernández at Alavez. He's on loan from Atletico but apparently want's out. He has the pace of Bale and has a great delivery on him.
If Edwards is seen as cover for Eriksen then I like someone like Martial or Schick. If Edwards is seen as cover for Son and Alli then someone like Klaassen or Isco.

If Wimmer goes, we should definitely replace him with Fosu-Mensah. He's a real talent who will rot under Mourinho

I agree he looks good - but absolutely no chance of United selling him (or anyone else for that matter) to us. We can simply forget about players at Chelsea, City, United, Arsenal, West Ham, Liverpool, and West Brom. For a variety of reasons, those clubs won't sell to us.

One can dream :D
Seriously. What's the saying, "if you're good enough, you're old enough." I'd get Edwards in there next season. Give him 10-15 minutes when we're 3-0 up in the first half of the season. Then maybe he can step in in the second half and be a viable option. If Dele could do it, why not Marcus?

I think he will be intergrated next season. I reckon he would have got a bit of game/bench time this season if it wasn't for his untimely injury.

Lets hope he has better luck next year. I think Pritchard was lined up for intergration and 1st team action and then got struck down with a bad ankle injury. Then others fill the gap or take their chance and the moment passes. Real sliding door moments for these players and you need luck on your side and to seize the oppurtunity.

At least Poch gives them a chance.

United have been happy to sell to rivals like Chelsea and Arsenal in the past, so i don't see why that should be an issue now.

Several reasons. The board don't like Levy ( hangover from the Berbs transfer). Mourinho hates us ( we let him down when he left Chelscum the first time and he has done everything he could to frustrate our transfer dealings e.g. by pinching Willian and recalling how we blocked the Modders move to Chelsea). The players wages are well outside our pay structure. Will players themselves prefer to sit on our bench rather than United's - if they aren't good enough for them, why should they be good enough for us? Like it or not, being a Man U player still has a certain cachet as they are still the largest club worldwide based in the U.K.

Fosu-Mensah looked very impressive last season, i have no idea why he feature so little now. Would be an excellent signing, i reckon. Probably not cheap though.

I think that the only one that stacks up there is wages and i would hope that wouldn't be a problem with a youth player.

United have a history of selling to competitors and i don't see why, if we can agree the terms of a deal, they would be any more reluctant to sell to us than they would Chelsea or Arsenal.

I don't buy the United hate us because of Berbs or Mourinho has it in for us because of Modric. They were business deals and we were acting in the best interests of our club at the time. They might not have liked it but they will have understood it.

Our fans sound like paranoid, teenage, conspiracy theorists sometimes.

Mourinho hates us because we blocked Modric's move to Chelski??o_O

I think you've got your memory mixed up - not to mention forgetting who Modric eventually left us for...

Rumour on Toby: BREAKING: @DiMarzio reports that Toby Alderweireld has a €28m (£23.4m) release clause, and that he has told Spurs he won't sign a new deal.

Massively unreliable journalist. Had an insight at Spurs when Baldini was our DoF, but no longer has any insight.

Alderweireld does indeed have a release clause in his contract, but it doesn't come into effect until Summer 2019 (when he has a year left on his deal) so it's not really worth the legal paper it is printed on.

My guess is that Toby will sign a new deal this Summer that will pay him around £100k a week.

Worth mentioning that this story is to fuel a rumour in the Italian media that Inter Milan want to sign Alderweireld and Walker. While I have no doubt that Inter would love both of them, I cannot see why any player would swap Spurs for Inter right now.
