Transfer speculation

I think morata looks decent, he's always looked like one with unfulfilled potential. Hopefully he's no Costa, and he'll struggle. I think chelski will struggle without Costas ferocity. Well, you know, to a certain degree.

City splashing out 85 mill on right backs, haha. Danilo has been dubbed the Achilles heel of real Madrid, let's hope he gets that nickname at city too.

Isn't he supposed to be an absolute ******* of the Balotelli level...

Hell of a project but arrogant as hell

I like the guy as a player, but I've heard that he's a bit of a c*nt, yeah. Argued with his manager over being dropped or something, fought with his team-mates, is a bit of a primadonna.

Juve are supposed to be in for him, though. And apparently, as of last month he was willing to wait out the last year of his contract and go to them on a free come July 2018. Wonder what's changed.

£70m !!! ridiculous

Kane must have a price tag of getting on for £150m then

I'll be honest, mate - I'm just hoping that the money we got for Bale isn't eclipsed too regularly before we sell Alli or someone for 150-200m quid. Otherwise it will make Bale's transfer look cheap, inflation and context notwithstanding. :p

Chelsea has spent a good wad of cash however they've strengthened well. A CB, CM and CF - will make them a lot stronger. Bit surprised that they haven't covered their wing-backs though as they're a bit vulnerable to injuries to them (ie like for like cover)

They will buy wing backs too

They will miss Costa though if he leaves

The transfer market is gone nuts.

No offence intended to you specifically Rorschach, but these comments are getting a little old already to me! Yes fees are huge, but that's because this is the first window with the 70% bigger TV deal. PL clubs now have much more money, so prices will inflate accordingly.

The market is a little balmy but it's the market Spurs are operating in.
We may not like it but we must compete for fresh bodies for the squad.
We can't just act like we don't like the prices and not bother with new signings.
The market calls the tune no matter how much we dislike/whinge about it.

Yep, I know all this but effectively prices have doubled (or more) in one window. Every transfer window is a little more ridiculous than the last, but this one is different. Spending has immediately jumped to obscene levels and often for rather average players. It is madness and unsustainable, but thankfully we have a chairman who won't get involved with stupid stuff.

The elephant in the room is we are punching so far above our financial weight, we get completely out gunned by our piers .

This market may be a blessing for us in the long run.

Could see us capitalising on our current team balance. But we must be very careful we don't get too complacent.
It is a delicate balancing act for the non dopped clubs.

Especially when we best the majority of the top six!

I don't mind waiting until transfer deadline day for some action to happen. .........my worry is we might drop another Sissoko sized turd

We are raking it in during what is (imo) peak times for the footie tv deal
We are raking it in at ridiculous prices 'if' we have to sell our top players
We have a manager that happily works magic with £0-£20M players and can keep us competitive

The benefit is the stadium debt can be paid down rapidly
We haven't sunk ourselves 'nuts-deep' into 'vital' buys......others will combined with ridiculous wage bills
We can increase wages within the structure, having the money to reward those who perform.

When the gravy stops flowing, we will have revenue s.treams coming online that we have total control of.The others will have Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

ps. This is not me saying i don't want us to buy (or sell) players....just in the long run we may come up smelling of roses

I think we will have to go for the unknown players really, which still will now cost about £10m as all the known players have pretty much doubled what you'd normally expect to pay for them (as a general rule). But not sure whether our scouting system is better or worse now that Mitchell has gone.

We could pay off the debt quicker than Arsenal did, although our stadium is a lot more than what theirs cost but it's all relative as there's was what, 12 years ago now? Plus if we do really have to sell a player we can get £100m for any one of the top ones easily (not that I want us to at all) but we are in a decent position.

I just think coming 2nd last year would make us very attractive to a lot of the top players and I genuinely thought we would sign a couple of "well known world class" players. Is levy being sensible or foolish? I'm caught in between.
