Transfer Rumour Thread

i might have read this wrong are you talking about perez? I think he is pretty good and would love to see a swap with townsend although in truth townsend is worth next to nothing in my opinion.

Yes. I haven't seen him do anything worthwhile yet (apart from two times when I've jinxed it by calling him rubbish and he went up and scored straight after). Completely invisible most of the time. Do not want.

Re; Ayoze Perez

He is certainly no world beater and very raw - but he has the tools to be a good 2nd choice option. The kind of option you see in those mid range CL teams - not good enough to be relied upon as first choice, but a nice option that knows where the goal is.
He would a cross between buying a kid and an experienced journey man.
So for <8m I would go for it.

Why would Ayoze Perez cost £8m or less?

Regular starter for Saudi Sportswashing Machine (15 starts this season) doing well. 22 years old. 3 years left on his contract this summer. Has games for the top notch Spanish u21 side.

Southampton are reportedly turning down £8m for Shane Long who was their backup even before they signed Austin, but Saudi Sportswashing Machine will accept that for Perez? We reportedly want £14m for Townsend who isn't even getting on our bench. I would have thought £20m+ on a good day and potentially closer to Carroll money now in January as they're fighting relegation.

Surely Saudi Sportswashing Machine wouldn't sell him for a fee that low?

Also isn't he another one of those players who operates in one of the positions behind the number 9 as opposed to being a number 9?

I think we have let the perfect Harry Kane backup go to Southampton for a fee of only £4 million as well....

Of course it may be that Austin has gone there on a 5 year £70,000 a week contract, in which case perhaps the club thought it not the right thing to commit so much money to a pure back-up player who wouldn't really be able to operate in any other positions. I just hope that we do have something else planned for the window (Berahino please Mr Levy)

Oduwa has been recalled from his loan at Rangers today

With the suggestion last week that Fulham want a player of ours on loan to lubricate a deal for Dembele, I wonder if the recall could have significance?

Is it likely that he would make a big impact at Fulham having failed to make a big impact in the Scottish second tier?

Interesting.

Transfer deadline day is fast approaching and you just know Levy is rubbing his hands together in anticipation of an eleventh hour swoop. I know I am at the thought of spending the day with Natalie Sawyer.

I thought he started really well, but then just started getting clobbered into the stands by meathead defenders?

The championship is quite a lot more cultured and might suit him better?

Quite possibly... I just thought it strange that he ended up struggling for game time at that level if he's good enough to make a good impact in the Championship.

Yeah, I tend to agree. If Fulham want a loan to help them avoid relegation, I suspect it won't be a youngster whose only first team experience is a dubiously successful few months in the second tier in Scotland. It'll be someone like Carroll or Onomah or Bentaleb - a player who has already proven themself (in the sense of being a regular in the matchday squad of a Top 4 team in the premier league). Not that we'd agree to such a loan, nor that those players would be willing to go, but I just don't see why they would currently see Oduwa as a significant gain to their side.

Mason went from toiling at Doncaster Rovers (or somewhere similar) to the England side within 6 months when put in the right environment.

Because Fulham watched Pritchard tear up the division last season, so know just how good some of our academy players are?

Watford are in talks to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon and have completed a £6.3million deal for Malaga winger Nordan Amrabat.

Romanian Pantilimon, 28, is available on a free transfer and is wanted to provide competition for Heurelho Gomes. He also has interest from Espanyol.

Sunderland are also looking to offload Danny Graham to Blackburn on loan as they try and finalise a loan for Lorient defender Lamine Kone and still want to add another striker.

Meanwhile, Amrabat, who can also play as a striker, has signed a three and a half year contract but Watford still want Andros Townsend from Tottenham too, though they face strong competition from Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Watford have considered Liverpool's 19-year-old Jerome Sinclair, who wants to leave in the summer, and have asked about QPR winger Matty Phillips as alternatives to Townsend.

Phillips, though, is another player Saudi Sportswashing Machine are also keen on signing before the January transfer window closes.

Wissam Ben Yedder is a name that's been doing the rounds a bit lately. Apparently Toulouse are open to selling him though our offer wasn't enough to get them to sell, there's every chance that if there is truth in this then we will come back.

His youtube video's make him look like a perfect blend between a forward and a winger. Good shooting off of either foot, decent enough in the air, looks to be able to find space for himself and has a good turn of pace. I'm not sure about where he would fit into our system mind as I think he would have as much luck up front by himself as N'jie. If we got him in then perhaps we could see a shift in the way our system works, just like it would if we signed someone like Berahino.

EXCLUSIVE

Axel Witsel has refused to rule out joining the Premier League’s Belgian contingent, but Tottenham may have to wait until the summer to sign the 27-year-old.

The Zenit St Petersburg midfielder is highly regarded at White Hart Lane, with Spurs having pushed until the final days of last summer’s transfer window in a bid to bring him to north London.

As reported by Standard Sport in September, Spurs were willing to pay £17 million for the midfielder, who earns about £70,000-a-week in Russia, to reunite him with Belgian team-mates Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Nacer Chadli and Toby Alderweireld.

But with Zenit through to the knock-out stages of the Champions League, Spurs concede that a move this month will prove highly problematic.

The Russian transfer window does not formally open until January 24th – just nine days before its English counterpart closes – while former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas, the current head coach at Zenit, would be reluctant to lose one of his key men at this stage.

Speaking to Standard Sport from Zenit’s winter-training camp in Qatar, Witsel admitted that while he is concentrating on his current club, he will wait and see what happens in the summer.

“Well, I am focused on my team,” said Witsel, when asked about Tottenham’s interest. “We just came back from holidays. So my focus is on training.

“It’s the first training camp in Qatar this year and we will see later. I don’t want to think too much about that. I am here until June, and then we will see.”

Andros Townsend is on the brink of completing a move to Saudi Sportswashing Machine which could be worth £12million.

Standard Sport understands Townsend is close to finalising a deal which comprises an initial six-month loan spell with an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer for a fee in the region of £12m.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has placed a £14m price tag on the 24-year-old and is believed to prefer an immediate sale as opposed to a temporary arrangement but no club is willing to meet that valuation. It is thought that Townsend, by contrast, would rather move on loan until the end of the season before re-assessing his options in the summer.

Fiorentina were keen on taking Townsend to Italy but were unable to match the wages on offer elsewhere. Watford are thought to have indicated they would pay the winger around £37,000-a-week but Saudi Sportswashing Machine have offered in excess of £40,000-a-week and are in advanced talks to complete a deal.

Yet Watford have now signed another attacker who can play wide, with Nordin Amrabat arriving from Malaga for £6.1million. And while Saudi Sportswashing Machine remain confident of signing Townsend, they are also looking at other options in case the deal does not go through, with Aston Villa winger Scott Sinclair figuring prominently on their list.

Townsend had been keen to stay and fight for his first-team place at White Hart Lane but he has been left out of recent matchday squads with manager Mauricio Pochettino making it clear he does not have a future at the club.
England manager Roy Hodgson remains an admirer of Townsend but the winger needs to play regularly to ensure he is part of the squad for this summer’s Euro 2016 finals in France.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine have already committed a total of £16.5m this month in buying Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea and Henri Saivet from Bordeaux and would welcome the opportunity to sign Townsend now but defer any payment beyond a loan fee until the end of the season, when the Premier League’s £8billion television deal kicks in.

40 grand a week will cushion the blow for him :)

Good luck to the boy, he's given it his all with us, you can tell he really wanted it. Just not quite good enough, although I think he could go to a new club and play very well as a flying winger.

If we get £12m, that's pretty decent.
