Chelsea have tabled a bid of £27 million for Wayne Rooney as Mourinho seeks to bring in the want away striker (source: @jamesbjacobs )

Just heard from @jamesbjacobs that chelsea have agreed a fee for Cavani and the deal should be completed by July

Ashley Williams will be announced as Arsenal's first summer signing within the next 2 weeks (source: @jackisagooner )

All those tweets from the last ten minutes.

All that happened in the last ten minutes?

Only joking. Football people will be on holiday for a few more days.

You have the likes of Fellaini, Baines, Rooney, Cavani........... then Ashley Williams  If that's the standard of player the Goons are after, we really need to make a statement this transfer window and one-up them. Of course it's probably all teletext flimflam anyway.

Apparently, Tom Ince has signed for Spurs today from Blackpool and is awaiting his medical.

That would be a typical Levy signing, young with a sell on value and not too much money, if we are serious about the coming season we must buy a couple of proven top class players.

The two are not mutually exclusive. The typical Levy signings have helped bring our club to where we are now and will be important if we want to continue improving.

It was a Levy signing of 5-10 years ago, but there's no value (or quality) in the homegrown market any more.

Especially with Baldini in place, I think Brazilian and Argentinian teenagers (as well as senior players like Paulinho, Bernard and Leandro, by the look of it) are going to be our bag from now on.

If he's good enough then he's good enough, doesn't matter where he's from.

I don't think a statement can be made about an entire market as big as the British having no value or quality. We've done really well with players like Bale and Walker, no reason to think that we'll stop buying young British players all of a sudden.

Value is highly situational, according to the internet [source needed] Tom Ince only has a year left on his contract and he seems eager to get into the Premier League so he's unlikely to sign a new contract.

Added to the point that we require home grown talent in our squad. Whilst we may have a large number of them currently, it's good to look for the future so we can continue to fill our 25 man squad.

City,Chelsea,Utd plus the likely pair of Arsenal and Liverpool will improve next season, young maybes are not enough to keep us where we are, the only reason I can see for buying promising prospects are so thet we can pay for the new stadium quicker, Levy has also sanctioned the buying of a lot of rubbish in his time so I hope a Baldini type does come in.

Like I said, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I hope we sign a couple of players that can slot in and strengthen the starting 11 and a couple of younger players with a lot of promise that can strengthen the squad this season and hopefully step it up a couple of years down the line.

It's not like signing Tom Ince will hurt our chances of signing Villa/Soldado/Damiao/some striker.

Any chairman or manager that has been in charge of a club as long as Levy has will have some real duds in their transfer record. If we sign Baldini and he stays around for a decade I imagine it will be the case with him too.

Ince. \o/

Tom Ince certainly looks to have inherited his father's ****y confidence by the looks of that video above

I like him, and if he is to be our first signing of the summer then im pleased with that

Tottenham weighing up surprise swoop for Napoli defender Federico Fernandez

The 24-year-old, who is a good tackler and strong in the air, spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga outfit Getafe.

Spurs are considering defensive options, and having released William Gallas, the Argentina international appears to have caught the eye.

Reports on the continent indicate Spurs are lining up a £8.4m move for him.

Although he is due to go back to his parent club, Fernandez has never been able to cement a regular spot in the first team.

Latest rumour rushing around twitter is that we've accepted a £12M offer for Aaron Lennon. flimflam or not, what would everyone's thoughts be if it WAS true?

I'm Lennons biggest fan but honestly? £12,000,000 for him is brilliant.

Who is the bid reportedly from? If it was someone who would be a rival to us next season, then definitely don't sell

As it's 99% likely to be made up there is no club attributed to the bid. But the thing is, I can't see a top 4 rival bidding for him so I don't see it being an issue. I love Lennon, but he isn't much of a goal threat, which I think as a winger or certainly as a forward in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 you need in your game. So if that is AVB's thinking for next season and there is a £12M offer I'd take it all day long.

I'm not so keen to sell him. As much s he does blow hot and cold with form, I think he is a great player for counter attacking football, which is how we tend to play. His pace alone keeps him as a threat throughout games. More than likely just a fruitless rumour
