Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

We'll struggle if don't get more movement.

true, bringing in a CF and LWF will give us a front 3 (including Bale) who should be pretty fluid in their movement, Dembele surging on from deep meaning a creative passer sitting behind should have plenty of options

He doesn't have to that creative IMO if there's good movement in front of him. His job will be to shield the defence, cover for the FBs if necessary and release the ball to one of the other midfielders.

Sandro?

We need one overtly creative CM coming in this year - be it a deep-lying one or someone who operates further up the pitch (Alonso and Banega would do me just fine....)

intriguing why AVB never tried it last season at all though. up front could have been: Dempsey - Ade - Bale.

Well, Holtby was purchased in January after Sandro's injury, so we couldn't play those three together.

We did on occasion play 4-3-3 though.

I used to like Zidane...now, no way!!

He apparently wants Bale to hand in a transfer request so that the move to Real Madrid can be speeded up!! Talk about arrogant and tapping up!

Admittedly the comments are from the Sunday People so I hope they are false but...

As good a player McCarthy is mate he is nowhere near worth £20m !!! GHod knows where they got that from,

Based on what I've seen both in the premiership and at international level, McCarthy and Coleman are the two Irish players I'd love to see at Spurs (there's a couple of others I think would strengthen our squad - though wouldn't be starters). So I'm glad to hear his name linked. But £20m?! That's madness. I think McCarthy will leave Wigan for a premiership team alright, but probably for less than half that fee... £6m plus Livermore say?

I couldn't disagree with that. Long is a decent player too, and based on last season's form would probably start for us.

McCarthy needs to impose himself a bit more on the matches. He can be a bit of a ball watcher on occasion, but I do think he's gonna grow into an even better player this season for some premiership team. Dare I say it, I see a bit of Roy Keane in him.

My concern with British/Irish players is drinking culture (and food vs fitness) -the English love a drink, any chance, have a beer

Day off, have a beer

Got 2 hours to kill at an airport, have a beer

Sunny day? Have a beer

Is it Friday? Have a beer

Having dinner? Have a beer

The Irish are worse than the English... got worries, have a beer

Got no worries, have a beer

Going to visit your mammy, have a beer

Staying in for the day, have a beer

Off to the shops, stop by and have a beer

Going to a friend's house? Have a beer

Waiting for your chips? Have a beer
