Tottenham Hotspur V Aston Villa

A wiiiiide open midfield with no defensive clue all game. Wiiiiiide open.

Deki and Bergvall are pushed right up near the centre forward, so Bentancur decides to go and join them!!!
And just to put the icing on the cake, Porro was up the right wing trying to score!!!!!!
And just to put the cherry on the icing on the cake, that was after 30 seconds!!!!!!!!!
12 exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Injuries mate

Yes that window - similar to Arsenal we failed to address some key issues in the Jan window when in a position of strength - for us it's a sign of lack of ambition, for them not?

Fwiw Cahil was already tapped up to join Chelsea on a bosman end of that season and Tevez was only available on a loan iirc and we already had Adebayor from City that season so a non starter
I believe Arsenal gave Arteta the chance to improve, Arteta is just bull headed and just crazy enough to believe what he has is already enough, that's on him. In our equivalent window we did not try, we did show a lack of ambition we know our manager did not want the standard of players he received. The circumstances are not the same. If we later hear that Arteta was desperate to bring someone in and the board said no then we are are begining to talk about similar scenarios but I would counter and say he's had plenty of opportunity to bring a striker in but has instead bought Havertz, Rice, Merino, Timber, Califori etc. it's not their board showing a lack of ambition, it's their coach prioritising other areas.

A bit like our current coach deciding he didn't need another CB at the start of the season, or a quality RWF or a DM.

I don't listen to the press conference, never have, win lose or draw.
Numb doesn't describe it, which considering how often we've been through it it is surprising really.
Feels all very like AVB to me, everyone knows it's coming just don't know when.
Not to make you feel bad or anything, but my brother was over discussing our dad's funeral arrangements, so yeah, not been a great day and I could really have done with spurs giving me a little boost today.

So, so sorry mate. Lost my mum last September to dementia and have recently gone through the process. It's an incredibly tough time for any family and the funeral is a massive component of the grieving process. I'm know you and your brother will give him a great send off.

Keep thinking of all those happy times with your dad.

Sorry for your loss, hope everything goes well.

Redknapp oversaw a pretty hefty turnover of players himself and prioritised where he saw fit too mate. Arteta is on record speaking during the window saying how he needs to go in to the market add goals to the team...

I think you mean collection, not turnover

Redknapp said it himself at the time afterwards, he wanted additions and didn't get the quality of player he wanted. No need to spin it, it's the past. ENIC were unambitious, time will tell if they are ambitious in the future.

The reason I don't blame ENIC currently is because Ange has come out and claimed all the transfer business as at his behest. He wants all the credit so shall get all of the blame when he signs poorly or doesn't film very obvious squad gaps. Arteta is similar, he has taken responsibility for the signings so cool, that's on him. If he comes out and says the board haven't supported him then cool I'll also class the Arsenal board and running away from success. But as it stands that's not the case.

There's no need to spin the past, it's done. The Tottenham board were unambitious and moved in the opposite direction whenever success was staring them in the face. Maybe we have changed, time will tell, but yes I don't currently lay any real blame at ENIC 's feet beyond them being the cause of our current predicament but that's another much longer conversation.

Startet 4 teenagers. Started 3 players signed in January, 2 players signed late in January. Son, Kulusevski and Porro nowhere near their best, fatigue probably a big part of that. Then go a goal behind straight away.

Yeah, we were disjointed. Horribly disjointed even. Shouldn't be a surprise, but I guess we differ on that being because of the injuries or because of Ange or a combination of the two.

Need to do better in the coming weeks imo. Bit of rest and time on the training ground for once. Some players coming back hopefully.

How the gaffer must wish he had big characters like Hart and Defoe in his current leadership group… Defoe is looking to move into first team coaching, after completing his stint at our Academy, so maybe can help Son rediscover his goal scoring mojo.

What makes yesterday's defeat extra annoying is that with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal out you'd have to say that it would definitely be a trophy we'd have a chance of winning. At a guess I'd say they are the 3 teams we have struggled against the most in the PL era.

With half a team and dogbrick tactics we were still in the game .. that's the frustration (to add to the point of the draw will likely be kind)
