Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project

No some of the upper levels will belong to the club. Some educational facilities and the "showroom".

Re: Northumberland Development Project

If Sainsbury's do it right they could take a lot of match day money from people and away from traders on the high road, especially if they have hot food for sale in a cafe or something...

And lets be honest, is that a bad thing. I don't buy stuff from any of the local traders on match day, although I am partial to the pulled pork, or a gourmet burger. I for some reason trust these more. Imagine them turning the high road into a more european feel with decent Café's or food stores. I'm sure though McDs, Burger King, KFC and the Pizza stores will all be in on any new units available in the new build. Stores such as Chick King will have there role for the community, thing is that community directly around the stadium will not be the same and will not want to use Chick King, especially knowing that they only use Halal meat.

What is wrong with Halal meat? It is the same Kosher, I believe. :-k

That is all we get in a lot of countries.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

feels like the development and regeneration will be led by Sainsbury's first, then THFC.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

:ross: If you care about the way the animal is killed or reared, you don't eat meat at all, or you kill the animal yourself.

Meat, halal or otherwise, is pretty much the same as most clothes or electrical equipment. Most people either know that the animal hasn't been treated that great, or that there have been a few sweatshops/ slaves across the way...but frankly, you get on with it and you buy your £4 tshirt or £3.50 chicken and chips. Or you're ignorant, have no clue and just want cheap clothes/ greasy chicken.

One of my friends is a vet and she took me to an abattoire. Put me off meat for years. She also told me that the 'humane way' in the West, by stunning them first, often doesn't work and just paralyses them. So they're fully aware of what is going on and in extreme agony but can't do anything or make any noises because all the muscles are paralysed. But they're in extreme pain.

Some scientists in Hannover did a study on this a few years ago I believe, I'll try to find it. With both methods done properly, the EEG recording in the Halal animal was gone basically instantaneously, whereas it was still ongoing in our 'more civilised' way.

Anyway, back to the more important business, when the hell are we gonna start building this thing?

Cool, but in all respect. I'd prefer not to eat an animal that's had its throat slit and left hung up to have the blood drain from its carcass.

Whether that is the best way, you nor I know and everyone will have there own opinion. But for me I prefer what is mandatory in the UK and not what is religion fuelled. (Open another can of worms haha)

My main point about Chick King and Halal meat is, does the general public that goes to Chick King on game day know they are eating Halal meat. IMO people should be told what it is they are purchasing.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

That is completely your decision, as it should be for everyone.

I'm not talking about opinion, I'm talking about scientific fact and a measurement of brain wave activity.

And I completely agree on your final point. Personally, I avoid these chicken and chip places like the plague. For me, they're pretty disgusting. The few times I've had them, I swear I've felt my coronary arteries sclerosing and my life expectancy slipping as I chewed. If I can stomach meat on a game day, I'll go for a burger from the stalls outside the ground or get a kebab from that blue Turkish place opposite Paxton road, that's delicious.

To be honest, I can't visualise Chick King in my head right now so I'm not sure if this applies to it but most of these stores have a rather clear halal written on the windows/ door. In fact, considering that most of them are owned by people from certain backgrounds, I can't say I've seen too many that don't have halal written on the front. And I'm sure most people who go there know they're buying halal, even if they have no idea what it means or entails. But yes, people should definitely know what they're eating and be able to make the choice whether to eat there or not.

And without meaning to open up my own can of worms, those who go out of their way to avoid halal meat tend to do it for rather sinister reasons imo. But that's best left there imo.

Going back to your original point, I don't mind the high road getting a bit of a facelift and some nice stores opening up there. But us getting a nice new stadium is not going to suddenly regenerate the whole area and its important the local community is still able to access the things that are being built. I'm a bit confused as well. In your OP, you said the community directly around the stadium will not be the same and in your latest post, you say its the match goers. By the first, do you mean the people who'll be moving into the new flats? Surely, as with the rest of the people living around the area, they'll find out soon enough what the shops are and make their shopping choices accordingly?

Re: Northumberland Development Project

Talking about food and takeaways on the high street. Here is the one i used to use a lot when im back in Brighton http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/1063...tion_finds_blood__cobwebs_and_mice/?ref=mmnpg

funny i often used to get the ****s after eating there,

blood blood, i sure as hell hope that was the blood of the animal. I do not eat junk food, the odd packet of prignles when im down but thats it. If i did i would only go into the national chains not one of these fly by nights.

Religion out of it some of these takeaways leave a lot to be desired.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

I quite like the kebab place near Northumberland Park station, the place with the green sign. Good chips!

Re: Northumberland Development Project

A propos nothing..I like chips and although it is reassuring that the big guys tend not to give you food poisoning I am prepared to take a risk with an independent. Especially those with thick chips.

When will we get a nationwide brand selling thick chips? I will dream tonight about this.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

Our net summer spend for the last few seasons has been remarkably small and assuming that the Bale deal is as reported we are likely to net spend very little this summer too. If we assume that the club has the ability to borrow/spend between £15 and £20m a season and that there is £30m extra in the kitty from this season from the TV rights would it be plausibe to assume that prudent financial management has already put us in a position to begin this fairly soon?

Rip me apart financial geeks.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

@ Superhudd & Hootnow.

Places that serve halal meals will ALWAYS display this on their shop and menu.
That is the only way that they will get halal eaters to go there.

I, personally never eat at any fast food place. The proper restaurants that I go to mostly serve halal meat.
And I am not talking about curry places - but up market restaurants serving international food like steaks etc.

The fresh meat that I buy also comes from a halal butcher. The only reason for that is that he sells the best
aged beef I have found in all my postings around the world. South Africa , Australia & the US being the other ones.

I am not too bothered how the animal is killed. I am more bothered how HUMANS are being treated & killed around
the world.

My 2 cents - PEACE
